What color to paint?

I got my neighbor to help me paint in three weeks but I have to come up with the colors. I have taupe drapes and couches with hard wood floors. My husband has hunting trophies on the walls (head mounts and horn mounts). I was thinking a golden yellow color. But then I am stuck on what color for the dining room that is like part of the living room.

What color is kitchen? [ I assume that is the room opening off the DR as well.]
Say kitchen is blue, and LR gold, paint the DR leafgreen.
Or paint the wall you see from the kitchen [ east ] and facing wall [ west for instance] the kitchen color; and wall facing LR, and facing wall [ north and south for instance ] the color of LR.
Be sure to repeat any chosen color[s] in accessories.

I always feel that beige is a good back drop for trophies and pictures ect... You want to pick a color that is like a canvas. This way all your favorite art and trophies will show up. Think of it like a picture what color would they look best on. I am not sure what color your furniture is so would suggest sticking to a color that blends with the furniture. When I paint I always use a color that will make the other things in my house be the focal point. Good luck and be grateful you have a neighbor to help...Blue says everything should be blue..Not..

Some Sherwin Williams colors that work well with taupe:

armagnac (an orange - looks great!)
dutch cocoa
denim
breezy

I also have a cabin/lodge look in my home. right now the LR/DR is tan & brown, but think of switching to orange & green. would that look too much like a pumpkin patch?

Yellow sounds nice (As long as its the right yellow, and not pee yellow or something equally nasty) And for the dining room... hmm... Ever thought of red? I guess I'd have to see the rooms to really know.
