Watch some Kung-Fu movies with them. It's stuff like that that got me interested.

It's gonna be hard doing a discussion here only because of the format of this website. However, you can try the other Martial Art forums that exist on the web. Some of them are respectable. These kind of things are tricky to approach. You can't just tell the guy to turn off what attracts him to whatever. At the same time, he needs to maintain a level of professionalism and courtesy to whom he is rolling with. There's nothing wrong with fighting on the ground with another gender. People of the opposite sex attack each other all the time where most male rapists will probably try to pin the woman. Therefore, it's crucial that a female know how to handle herself against someone of a larger body mass and type. It's about self-defense and warfare after all. I'm not going to go into what I find attractive regarding women, but I will say that if I was being held down by a woman, regardless of whether or not we were playing, I would do everything I could to break out. Personally, I'm not a fan of being pinned (no one is), but I especially don't like being touched in a manner that I cannot control (all the more reason why I am fascinated with grappling). If I'm not in control or have the chance to stop the situation when ever I want, I won't like it. In the dojang, it's training. Sex doesn't come to mind. Outside, I'd rather not say.

I think movies do a really good job with getting kids into martial arts. Also demos that some schools might do locally or on tour also help. I agree with cnote and I think putting a little martial arts in the pe curriculum at school would be great. I had self defense classes in middle school.

Well Mr. Norris(lol) I think you are doing a great job already with your Kickstart program here in Texas. By having martial arts as an alternative for P.E. at schools gives students who may not be able to or know about martial arts a chance to experience it. Only problem is that it is in too few schools. I wouldn't mind instructing in one of these schools as long as it was relativity close to where I live.

You've gotta make your programs exciting, fun, engaging, and dynamic to keep kids interested and motivated. Programs have to be multi-tiered to handle the different learning stages, attention spans, and social adaptivity of kids from a very young age all the way through their teenage years.
You've also got to do something to attact kids to your programs. Demo's at schools are a great way to get them interested. After-school programs are a good way to reach out to kids and provide a quality activity for them. Parent/Kid self-defense days are a good way to connect parents and kids together on the concepts and benefits of martial arts training.
It's a pretty broad subject, but I think a lot of people are doing pretty well in the area. Certainly the XMA movement has helped to attract and retain kids in many schools around the US.

I am in the process of investing $ to open a school where kids under 13 have no tuition. They will be required to do chores around the school, their homes and their communities.
13 through 17 will have to find a part time job that won't interfere with school, pay $20-$25 monthly and contribute at home or to the less fortunate.
18-21 pay $40
22 and above pay $40-$45 and up according to their economic status. So if you are rich... you will pay dearly! :D
Elders pay nothing.
This would be my dream school. The program would teach kids how to be responsible. They will sign a promise to follow the program or they will not be admitted.

MMA is bringing kids back to Martial Arts.
So is "Tricking" and "Freerunning"
Having a good "Demo Team" perform at a school is a sure fire way to get kids interested in Martial Arts!

Well let them watch a few UFC. But if you are intrested in geting your kid into MMA, I suggest enrolling him in Judo our wrestling at school first. Those are by far the best base in MMA
