Because every girl in the world throws her virginity away. It doesn't scare guys away, it makes them want to take it from you. But don't give it. A pure girl is hard to find. Don't let him take the twinkle from your eye :]

I'm not sure- I suppose guys after just one thing- it may scare away- But in all honesty, why would you want that type of man anyways- so good riddence.
I was a virgin til 25 and Im now 32- Even now when I tell men I was a virgin til 25, it seems to scare them off. I feel they think if they kiss me, Ill expect marriage or something- which is not true at all- I don't know where that thinking comes from but....
I'm not sure what it is, but I'm glad I waited- and if the guy is interested in YOU for YOU- nothing else matters. The ones who run off because you're a virgin, obviously are not interested in just you. They're interested more so in sex- Theres plenty you can do without intercourse- I was in a relationship from age 19 on & had a great sex life without intercourse- we did everything else & he was satisfied- never pushed me to lose it, he left it as my choice.. I was with him for 12 yrs. He was my first everything.
So find the man who wants you for you... and will appreciate the fact that you haven't spread yourself around. There's not many out there that haven't. Be proud you're a virgin- its easy to say yes- a lot harder to say no....

Why don't they believe you? Well how old are you? But it might scare some of the immature guys away because if that's all they're after they might get a hint that you're not easy so it wouldn't work out. Plus a girl's first is like, a big deal and not every guy is man enough to deal with that responsibility. Most likely it's just the shallow ones who would be scared away. Or even asking at that. Yeah in front of their friends it might be the "cool thing" to sleep with the school virgin, but deep inside I'm sure they'd be terrified.

No it doesn't scare guys away, they used to say the same thing about me, they just cant believe that your still a virgin, because they think " how could someone that pretty be a virgin" Sorry but its not a big deal guys say stuff like that all the time don't let it get to you.

Depends on your age somewhat. Guys tend to get scared when a younger girl is a virgin. They are much more likely to get into trouble if a girl is a virgin and they take it away. A more experienced girl it is assumed she knows what she is doing. But do not let it bother you, if some guy is put off by your statement re virginity then you are ahead of the game.

Well in today's world it is hard to believe it when a girl past a certain age says she has never had sex. I don't think it scares guys away. It may be that they don't think they have a chance with you if you are still a virgin.

The only reason we think that is because we think girls that are attractive/pretty have already had tons of bfs and that may lead to sex in one of those relationships. It would not scare me away, really i could care less if she was a virgin or not.

It's unusual these days for a girl, especially an attractive girl to be a virgin. 12 and 13 year old girls at my son's school are already having sex and on birth control.
You stick to your guns. Guys may say they don't believe it just to try to rattle you into doing something you don't want to do. And yes, there are some guys who won't date you because they thing you won't "put out". And there will be guys who will want to get with you because it's a challenge for them to be the first to "get you".
Stay strong, & don't give it up 1 second before you're ready to, hopefully after you're married to someone who deserves you.

I guess its because the world is so casual about sex anymore,,,its so available and why would anything so great have to wait...BUT I respect you and who cares what they think ,,,,,they probably are just surprised to find such a nice girl and one that has all the right stuff and still doesn't indulge ..
Its a pleasant change to hear ,most brag about not being a virgin and probaly still are....if it scares them away,,they probably aren't good enough for you !

No probably not. I reckon they just ask because they are curious. Take their surprise as a round-about compliment. They think you are so hot that they cannot believe it when you tell them you are a virgin. Being a virgin isn't the 'shame' with girls that it is with guys. With girls it carries some kind of respectability. Either way, you are in a win-win situation.
