Maybe you cause yourself pain by not agreeing there is a perfect reality even though you long for it...? Bodies are always in a state of entropy, I think that's painful. I'm content with the idea of non-existence, even though I think it impossible to attain, so instead eternal life, however many changes/deaths that entails...
God bless.
"PAIN AND SORROW
November 22nd
In this world we are influenced by two sentiments, Joy and Pain.
Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness. But when sadness visits us we become weak, our strength leaves us, our comprehension is dim and our intelligence veiled. The actualities of life seem to elude our grasp, the eyes of our spirits fail to discover the sacred mysteries, and we become even as dead beings.
There is no human being untouched by these two influences; but all the sorrow and the grief that exist come from the world of matter -- the spiritual world bestows only the joy!
If we suffer it is the outcome of material things, and all the trials and troubles come from this world of illusion.
For instance, a merchant may lose his trade and depression ensues. A workman is dismissed and starvation stares him in the face. A farmer has a bad harvest, anxiety fills his mind. A man builds a house which is burnt to the ground and he is straightway homeless, ruined, and in despair.
All these examples are to show you that the trials which beset our every step, all our sorrow, pain, shame and grief, are born in the world of matter; whereas the spiritual Kingdom never causes sadness. A man living with his thoughts in this Kingdom knows perpetual joy. The ills all flesh is heir to do not pass him by, but they only touch the surface of his life, the depths are calm and serene.
Today, humanity is bowed down with trouble, sorrow and grief, no one escapes; the world is wet with tears; but, thank God, the remedy is at our doors. Let us turn our hearts away from the world of matter and live in the spiritual world! It alone can give us freedom! If we are hemmed in by difficulties we have only to call upon God, and by His great Mercy we shall be helped.
If sorrow and adversity visit us, let us turn our faces to the Kingdom and heavenly consolation will be outpoured.
If we are sick and in distress let us implore God's healing, and He will answer our prayer.
When our thoughts are filled with the bitterness of this world, let us turn our eyes to the sweetness of God's compassion and He will send us heavenly calm! If we are imprisoned in the material world, our spirit can soar into the Heavens and we shall be free indeed!
When our days are drawing to a close let us think of the eternal worlds, and we shall be full of joy!
You see all round you proofs of the inadequacy of material things -- how joy, comfort, peace and consolation are not to be found in the transitory things of the world. Is it not then foolishness to refuse to seek these treasures where they may be found? The doors of the spiritual Kingdom are open to all, and without is absolute darkness.
Thank God that you in this assembly have this knowledge, for in all the sorrows of life you can obtain supreme consolation. If your days on earth are numbered, you know that everlasting life awaits you. If material anxiety envelops you in a dark cloud, spiritual radiance lightens your path. Verily, those whose minds are illumined by the Spirit of the Most High have supreme consolation.
I myself was in prison forty years -- one year alone would have been impossible to bear -- nobody survived that imprisonment more than a year! But, thank God, during all those forty years I was supremely happy! Every day, on waking, it was like hearing good tidings, and every night infinite joy was mine. Spirituality was my comfort, and turning to God was my greatest joy. If this had not been so, do you think it possible that I could have lived through those forty years in prison?
Thus, spirituality is the greatest of God's gifts, and 'Life Everlasting' means 'Turning to God'. May you, one and all, increase daily in spirituality, may you be strengthened in all goodness, may you be helped more and more by the Divine consolation, be made free by the Holy Spirit of God, and may the power of the Heavenly Kingdom live and work among you.
This is my earnest desire, and I pray to God to grant you this favour."

God DOES not intentionally cause you pain. God allows things to happen but does not cause them upon you. God ONLY gives you what you can handle. Man allowed pain to come into this world. Another thing if you dont believe in God then WHY are you accusing him of causing you pain if in your mind their is no God? He gives us things in our lives that can help us to grow or learn something from? Read the book of JOB and you will see what being faithful to the Lord really is about

God does not give pain based on belief in him. God is a moral God, and does not go on an ego trip. Pain does happen for a reason, and if you discover it, you should be able to use it to get stronger or more sensitive. People aware of pain, and able to handle it, can do great things in this world and feel good despite the pain, knowing that they made a difference in the World.

How do you come to the conclusion that God is the one at fault for causing you pain? I do not know if your pain is physical, or emotional. Some people make their own lives miserable with the choices they make. Some people do not take care of themselves health wise by doing many things that are harmful to their health. We have choices. I'm not going to sit here and tell you that yes, God is trying to get your attention. He doesn't need to do that. You are probably old enough to make decisions. God doesn't force us to follow him. Perhaps you might look at your life to see what is causing you pain, and you may find it could be the decisions you make in your life that are causing the problems. What would be the purpose of God making us deal with pain, in order to make us come to him? It would be no different if it were say, me wanting to force someone to like me, so I will cause them as much misery as I can until they give in. Nope, that's just not natural. And God deals with the natural. He wants you to believe in him for the right reasons. Not to make a person feel pressured in doing so. Who would want to force people to like you. That is not genuine.

First of all, if you do not believe that there is God, then He would not be the one causing you pain would He? If you think logically about your question. However I am going to answer this from the viewpoint of someone who does believe, and not only believes but desires to live her life for Jesus, who gave His life for her.
There is a passage of scripture that says "The rain falls on the just and the unjust"- believe me when i say, people who are believers, have pain too- I will share just a brief story about myself and my family.
1- I became a Christian at the age of 17-
2- I struggle with a chronic pain disease, where I am never free from pain- some days are just bearable other days are not-
3- God never promised to save me from my physical pain, He promised to save me from eternal separation from God, due to my sin
4- I chose to know Jesus- and this has not caused my pain to decrease- my hubby is permanently disabled and it gets hard, but I can tell you His grace is sufficient.
If you want to know peace in the midst of your pain, Jesus can and will provide it- you must take that first step- with a question like yours, I am pretty sure you may believe, but not sure how to find Him.
Admit you are a sinner, accept Christ as payment for your sins, and you will be saved- your pains may not go away, but like me, you will experience peace and joy in the midst of it all. God bless-

No, because I don't believe in God either. I suspect that the theists are much more likely to cause you pain than God is.

speedy hint, you're an atheist in case you do not have faith in god. so "their" impolite comments is rather self-loathing. I supply my teenagers (properly, my oldest) a lot of advice while they ask approximately god. we communicate with regard to the bible, the historic previous of christianity, different religions and viewpoints. I in common terms proportion my evaluations while he asks me promptly, and that i consistently have some thing to returned up why i think that way. i became into raised somewhat christian, yet I even have in no way believed in god, so I even have the "theology training" to have a real talk approximately christianity, and that i've got study a lot approximately different religions. My ex husband is an atheist, as is my fiance, so that's different from he will ever circulate to church in any respect, yet he's conscious the parables of the bible and could desire a lifelike talk approximately it. being an atheist isn't a foul element. I even have intense standards of what it skill to be a good individual, and a super form of christians would not be seen such in my international. my teenagers are smart, authentic, properly behaved, sort, beneficiant human beings, and that they do it while you evaluate that's a thank you to stay your life.

You are the cause of your pain not God. Belief in God does not guarantee one of a pain free life. Belief in Jesus and repentance of sin enables you to go to God with your pain and seek His grace to get through the bad times. He will not bring you to anymore than He will get you through.

Seriously...
Words cannot describe your stupidity. If you believe God doesn't exist, then how can you possibly even consider God causing you pain?
