I am a 16 year old female looking to join one of these martial art classes:
Tae Kwon Do
Haidong Gumdo
Kickboxing
Which one of these is the best for me if I want to lose weight and get toned? My problem areas are my buttocks and my thighs, but I would like a full body workout.
Thanks!

Haidong Gumdo, also spelled Haedong Kumdo, is a Korean sword martial art.

Check out schools in your area and choose the one that the students are soaked in sweat after each class.
Your rear end and thighs will become toned and firm with hard work outs, running,& swimming.

I don't know anything about Haidong Gumdo, but I have practiced both Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing. I prefer kickboxing (as long as it's not the cardio kind). It's a great full-body workout, and definitely tones you up. It's also more practical for self-defense. If you ever decide you want to get into MMA it's a good start for your stand-up game, too. Combine it with judo or jujitsu and you'll be on your way! Most likely you will benefit from any of these, though, so I would base a lot of your decision on the actual school and instructor. Observe a class or two before you sign up...that way you can get a better idea of what it's like and see how the instructor interacts with his/her students. Good luck!

I would opt for the kickboxing if you are looking more for the body toning and weight control type benefits. The reason why I say this is that most martial arts are not as well designed for this for beginners. They stress careful planned movements and techniques done slow enough so that you can master the technique first; speed, power, and a vigorous workout with it comes later. So martial arts is a great workout but more-so at the intermediate and advance levels if they are trying to produce a good student and have high standards.
Kickboxing will give you a faster paced, more vigorous workout and is not so technique intensive especially if you are not going to actually be a fighter. It will give you a more aerobic, cardio type work out that will slim and tone at the very beginning-not three, four, or five months later.

All will provide you with the potential of a great workout, valuable self-defense information and insight, and a positive experience, so the discipline really is not the most important thing to consider.
You'll be spending a lot of time, and over the long haul, a lot of money on your training, so you need to take time to ensure that you select a good instructor, a good school, and a good location that you can get to easily.
If you love the discipline but hate the instructor/s, you won't stick around for too long. Equally, if you love the instructor/s but hate the discipline, you're very likely to move on also. You should visit each of the classes and take some time to figure out which appeals to you most, which instructor you really like and enjoy listening to, and which school or group of students you feel most at home with. THAT will be the place you'll be most likely to look forward to returning to time and time again - and that is what help you achieve progress in the martial arts.
The nuances of disciplines and which is more suited to you personally can come later.
Good luck

Hi I have been doing kickboxing for 6 years so I hope I'm not biased when I say its such an awesome workout. I honestly don't know what the middle one is but I did do Tae Kwon Do for almost 2 years and Kickboxing (actually mixed-martial arts is an amazing way to go). Learn the technique, then blast on the intensisty to get the best workout, just be safe and know that it takes time to get the body you want but it is worth the wait.
Have fun, stay focused and be patient!!!

have you checked out capoeira yet. It's a martial dance if you will. A martial art with elements of dance and acrobatics. It's really great stuff for body toning that works every part of the body not just the arms or the legs. I've been at it for a year and looking at my body I have no reason to complain.

Kick-boxing will probably give you the best overall results you are looking based on my experience. The punching will tone your arms back and shoulders. the kicking will tone your legs midsection and buttocks. Plus the cardio aspect will make you sweat alot. so that will increase the toning effect and shed excess pounds. Just gotta be consistent and dedicated. oh and watch you eating habits not late nite snacking after class meaning like ice cream or a cookies..avoid the junk food. good luck

Any of them, so take the one that's closest to your house, and cheapest.
All of them will provide you with a workout, which will help lose weight and tone up.

Depends. TKD is good for a good work out and self defence. The depends is if the clases have a good work out. If it is just a work out you want kick boxing will get r done
