I guess in the end forerunner.. its Christ that truly matters. The arm of flesh will always fail us ..
Many a time unbelievers will not like Christians and because of that are turned off from even getting to know Christ personally. Its also unfortunate that many of us misrepresent the Lord before others simply because we do not live a crucified life where it is no longer the " I" but Christ living in us. I just thank the Lord for those who are willing to live such a crucified existence.. those who live according to this Resurrected Christ too in all His newness and freshness.
I was told that Mr Ghandi at the very end of his life had some serious consideration to turn his heart to Jesus. I guess this statement came out of that kind of consideration, but sadly enough.. he linked the misrepresenting christians around him at that time to Christ and altogether missed out on knowing the Savior of the World .. Jesus Christ...
May this be a strong sobering word in all of us from the Lord. LIFE OUT CHRIST.... NOT YOURSELF.
learn to step aside and let the Lord have a way to be seen.

It bothered me a lot when he said that. It probably means he wasn't saved. That said, I'd like to point out the fallacy in it. Truth doesn't depend on the behavior of the people who CLAIM to believe in it. Truth stands on its own. Either what Christ did and said was the truth, or it wasn't. There are a lot of hypocrites out there. Are we going to judge the truth and falsity of a statement based on a FALSE claim to believe in it? The most important thing to remember is that truth stands on its own. We Christians are still sinners, too. We have been promised only that we will be perfected in heaven. So Christians do a lot of things that I am sure Gandhi didn't like. Perhaps his statement was only an excuse; it's hard to say. He had been exposed to the Christian faith. We can only hope and pray he decided to accept Christ at the last minute. If he truly likes Christ, then HE is the Person whom Gandhi would have had to embrace, not Christians. You have to look underneath statements like this. Look at the logic of them, or the lack thereof. One thing to keep in mind also, is that Jesus didn't just come to be a nice teacher. He came to redeem the world, and He made the claim that people can only come to God through Him. I get the impression Gandhi wanted the soft, kind teachings of Jesus without the claims Jesus made on his life. So do you think maybe this was an excuse? It very well could have been. Otherwise, it's not a logical thing to say. If he likes Christ, let him embrace Him.

Some christians are unlikable-- they just need to be humbled.
But I do not believe Gandhi was saved, for he did not believe in Jesus Christ to be God- to be the Savior of the world, he just believed Jesus was a "good" man, a prophet. Many will disagree with me, but the truth is the truth! So it is sad when people follow after Gandhi's teachings...when they should be following after Christ.

-OH and forerunner I do not mean you! LOL I know you are a christian and love the Lord dearly~ : )

As great a man Gandhi was, I do not agree to his comment. The kind of Christians he was referring to are not the true followers of Christ. A true Christian will follow Christ and His teachings all his life. As Jesus said in Matthew 22:37-40, “…‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
If we call ourselves Christians, we must follow His words wholly, not partially. Loving our neighbor may not be an easy task; I am the first to confess that; since my neighbor upstairs makes too much noise at all hours and throw his trash in my patio. I found it very hard to be nice to that person let alone love him. But your question inspired me to leave my pride and reservations and abide by His words. So I decided to go to him and talk to him nicely about the matters that bother me. I am sure if I keep my cool and explain to him my problems, he will listen and give me a positive reply. Even if he doesn’t, I won’t be mad at him and pray that God will give him wisdom to see his mistakes. I am not trying to say that I am a perfect Christian. I have many shortcomings. But I am trying to live by His words one day at a time.
Loving the Lord and obeying Him is a lifelong process. If we can’t walk with Him we should not call ourselves Christians. Being a Christian is a responsibility. Christians must imitate Jesus and be examples of Christ.

I think he makes a very good point and one we, as Christians, need to give thought to. It's statements like this that open our eyes and helps us grow in Christ if we have an open mind and an open heart.

What is sad is he is grouping all Christians into one category so that is very unfair because I know many Christians who are very kind, loving and soft spoken people who treat everyone with love and respect and don't fall into this "mold".

But then, this can be said of any religion, any job, any race, etc.

Who is Mahatma Gandhi?

He said," I do not like your Christians." and he also said,"I like your Christ." If you loved God you would love his children,
even though you may not like all their ways. christian's are not
judged by unbelivers. maybe he has not been around some
real on fire for Christ christian's yet. Christ does have some
chrildren that act like Him, and love others. may the Lord be glorified in His church!

I think he's right... he's bacically stating that Christians are hiprocrits. He may also be taking the approach that followers of Christ can never compare to Christ because he was perfect and us being humans can never live up to him... luckily we serve a God who already knows and accepts this - unlike Gandhi.

It makes me sad because this man had much wisdom, yet was never able to come to the knowledge of the truth, yet spoke this truth out of his experience with Christians. I have been guilty at times of being less than I should have been in certain circumstances in my own life.
As people of the Kingdom of God, much is required, more is expected. This is a principle to practice from day to day.

Titus 2:6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.
7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,
8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.

I'd have to agree with him about most "Christians." But there are Christians out there that DO follow the ways of Christ.

Actually this country deserves to be ruled by some foreign power. Everything which is in this country's favor, the very people of this country oppose the same. That's why India was ruled by Muslims and then Christians. Once I read this somewhere. It is about an African person saying something about his country. It is, "beware of these missionaries. When they first arrived in Africa we had lands and they had bibles in their hands. They asked us to close our eyes and praise the holy jesus. We closed our eyes and when we opened we found that we were having bibles in our hands and they were having our lands in theirs. So beware of these wolves pretending to be sheep." It means they won everything and we lost everything. They captured your lands and made you christians too. So they robbed you of your culture and religion both. I don't believe in jesus at all. In fact I sometimes believe that Muhammad is far better than this wolf and his demonaic missionaries. See the only reason for christianity's spread was European colonization. In 17th century it was through power and in 21st century it is through missionaries. Today these christians themselves have found the truth that the very foundations of christianity are hollow. That's why more people are turning to atheism, buddhism, yoga etc in the west. But they will keep conversions up because it promotes their values and western culture too. Why didn't jesus teach what Buddha and other great Hindu saints taught that every person is son/daughter of God? Why did he choose to call himself son of God? O come on you fool christians he is no God or son of God at all. If I decide I can become greater than jesus and can perform many miracles. Because Hinduism says its possible for every man to perform miracles like God because each and every soul is the same. So Indians beware of these wolves before India is ruled once again. Edit (@ .): Huh, .The common man doesn't really give a flying sh8. That's why this country is ruled again and again by foreign powers. This time it'll be China. Keep licking shoes.
