there is a REASON for the Family Care Plan . This is it.
any finagling of schedules is strictly at command discretion.

Never listen to rumors. The needs of the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, AF or CG will always come first. The different military branches DO NOT make plans based on your marriage and your children. If your unit or command gets orders to deploy you will be going with it. Have you ever heard of a family care plan? The reason to have one is to take care of the care of your children when you deploy. If you don't have a plan it looks like somebody in your marriage will be getting discharged in the event of a double deployment. Normally if you are aren't two junior personnel, ie E4 and below on your first or second enlistment, you will be stationed accordingly so one spouse will be at a command that will not be deployed while the other one is and then you switch, but if you are new to the military and got married and had kids while on your first or second enlistment there are no guarantees of anything. The military will not guarantee you anything especially where you are going to be stationed and even more so if you are dual military. They may station you in the same state to be nice, but they don't have to. I tell people every day this is something to talk long and hard about PRIOR to getting married to another military person and even more talk if you want children. Talking and planning after either event is way to late to do anything about anything. It seems like you get to choose which is more important to you two, your military careers or the safety and security of your children. Sorry to be grime, just being honest about the system. Your rumors are very untrue to answer your question. Good luck.

If possible, the military will try not to deploy two parents at the same time, but it happens.. Especially now with the amount of people that are deployed. That's why the dependent care plan is so vital to dual military couple's careers.

This is definately not true. There is actually a woman in our squadron who just got deployed as did her husband who is in another squadron and they had to leave their 3 year old son with family. The military may try not to let this happen, but there is no guarantee and like someone else said the militarys needs come first.

In the Army, unless it's been recently changed, married servicemembers must have custodial documents giving custody minor dependents to a family member or friend in case of deployment. If you come down on orders, you deploy.

You have to go back to court and get the judge to order the support stopped once your husband takes custody during the deployment. You should also request that the judge order HER to make support payments while the kids are in your custody. Without a change in the support order your husband cannot stop paying no matter who is caring for the children.

My husband and I both deployed to Iraq and had to leave our son behind. Your chain of command might let one of you all stay but I highly doubt it. If you don't have a family care plan they could chapter either one of you or both.
My husband and I were both Army and in the same company.
