Read the book of Revelations... the Rapture is there buddy. And just to point things out, the Bible was pretty specific about the precursors to the Rapture... such things as borderless nations, common currencies and languages, and a globally powerful government (the leader of which will be eventually possessed in the flesh by Satan and will be the antichrist).
Of course there have been countless predictions of the Rapture for centuries past and there will be in the future, though I don't believe any of these people actually profess to read God's mind, they only observe the conditions of the current state of the world and make a mental checklist of how close we are to checking off all God's plans for us.

Do weather forecaster believe they can read a storms' mind?
(I don't know what that means either, it just came to me.)
Regardless, I'm gonna ask a question about rapture forecasters too.

They aren't necessarily fakes. They may believe what they are telling people. They may be sincere.
But the Book does say only the Maker knows.
The Book also says to pray in private, give gifts anonomously, and no worship money.
It's ok to preach getting ahead and all that but that is parishoner money they spend on themselves, living lavish lives, world traveled, rich and famous. What did the Lord say? How did he set his example? His diciples? Early Christians died for their beliefs. Nowadays you can't get a pastor or priest to leave their comfortable bed. churches lock up at night. I suppose the suicide hot line is manned or womaned by overseas listeners from India.

No one knows when the end will be. Not even Jesus knows, but only the Father. People believe those fakes because satan is very deceptive and people are very gullible. I know that the Rapture will occur, but I have no idea when, and that is ok, because I know that no matter what happens to me, I belong to God!

No one knows the bible says not even the son knows, just the Father, therefore humans do not know... Can they say things like it's near? Well yeah... I mean look around but no one can forecast it any further than "it's coming" no one know the year, not even the decade, heck it might not even be this Century... plus if they could read God's mind they would know that...NO ONE BUT HIM CAN KNOW...

Oooo cool.Since God's mind is Omnipotent and Omniscient, it's ever changing too. That must give them a headache. This would explain the crankiness.

Your questions is addressed to "these people" and why they believe the one's who think they can predict the return of Jesus Christ and the rapture.
Answer. They are either ignorant of the word of God, or through fear and intimidation serving people instead of Jesus Christ Himself.
The word itself warns against people like this.
