I own a Sigma 50AF Zoom its given good service for 10yrs+ , but now seems to be degrading ( bodywork) into a sticky finish.
Anyone out there with similar problems and preferably solutions welcome

I've seen plastic turn into goo from some sort of environmental chemical exposure. With that camera you're pretty much out of luck I would think. There's probably no source to recover a point and shoot with a plastic body like that.
You can make do with duct tape or other homemade remedy to keep the glop off you., but I believe it is time to give it an honorable burial.

I had a Contax, used it professionally for ten years. Yup. Even that beauty started to look shabby. I loved that camera, but I had to bite the bullet and buy another one. Thing is cameras wont last for ever. Nothing ever does. Your camera has given you good service for ten years - could be time to put it out to grass!

Check at cameraleather.com - they sell kits to replace a damaged or deteriorated original leatherette cover.
