What is the purpose of God creating barren planets and moons like Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, Phobos, etc, when it would have been quite enough just to create the Sun , the moon and the earth?

Are they created for our entertainment?

Everyone knows the Greek and Roman Gods created the planets and moons. The Christian God only created earth.

G-d knows why, but I will venture to guess it's because He loves variety and loves to give His children more wonders than they can possibly fathom.

Who's to say those planets are barren? Barren of life as we know it, perhaps, or we are not capable yet of perceiving it.

Your perspective shows a human-centric bias towards the celestial creation. Did G-d really create purely for our benefit? IF He did, then you are wrong to say it would be "quite enough" because the other bodies DO exist and therefore, MUST be necessary for us.

How about other galaxies that are so far away that their gravity doesn't affect our own galaxy nor the conditions on earth which make life possible and are too far away to see with the naked eye.
