one way to tell is if you look at a cats eyes, if you see grey like they glazing over, then that is a sure sign that your cat is fixing to pass away.

13 is not very old for a cat. I would say take him to the vet to get a check up. The peeing everywhere sounds like a bladder or kidney infection!! I know that when my aunt's one cat died it began breathing really heavy. Cats really do not need baths. That can cause a lot of stress on an older cat. you wouldnt want him having a heart attack! i would get cat cleaning wipes and just wipe him down rather then submerging him in water.

Good Luck!

He may be peeing everywhere because of a bladder or urinary tract infection. When he stops eating, loses weight, or tries to run away, he may be close to the end. Most animals close to death will look for a place to go and die. And of course they lose their appetites. A trip to the vet would very likely help with the urinary incontinence issue.

I've had cats and dogs that will kind of go to hell (not literally) years before they die. (ie go blind, deaf, lazy) As long as they are still happy just let them live out their lives and don't worry about when they are going to die. If you're too concerned, just go to the vet and see what's what.

when they are about to die, they like to go off by themselves. they will hide and want to be left alone. if you are concerned about your cat peeing all the time, ask you vet. might have a kidney or bladder problem.

He might just be incontinent due to his age and not be dying at all. You should take him to the vet to make sure he is doing well. Normally they will stop eating and doing the things they normally like to do.
