There is a set of JW that blanket my neighborhood twice a week for their house to house preachings. The first few times I answered the door and was very polite to them although I am Baptist and don't believe what they believe. The first time I opened the door they were made aware that I am a Baptist. Anyhow, I was having a birthday party for my daughter (I am aware that they don't celebrate birthdays or any holiday). I had lots of guests and balloons on the mailbox. It was obvious that I was having a gathering and busy at the time. Here come the JW ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door. I thought that it was very disrespectful for them to interrupt my child's gathering to preach to me when they already know that we do not share the same beliefs. I informed them that I was very busy and having a gathering. It was like the information didn't register to them. They kept talking. I finally had to say thank you for coming by and shut the door. Why don't they have more respect...

for others whom are not followers? I have since stopped answering the door for them at all, yet they keep returning. Will they eventually leave me alone?

Well, if you think you have it in you to be polite one more time, you could write a letter to their elder at the local Kingdom Hall. Explain that while you appreciate their religious beliefs, you hold your own religion in your heart and would appreciate it if you were no longer contacted at your home. Keep the original to this letter for your records, and send them a copy. At least you will have some grounds to seek legal help in the matter, as if it continues, it could be seen as harassment(?) If all else fails, do what my mom did....put a big sign on your door that states you do not wish to be bothered by JWs. lol Good Luck to you!

well Jehovah's have never interrupted me while I was in the middle to something but I do agree that they are very annoying. Two older Jehovah's came to my door last month and they were very persist ant in sharing their beliefs. It was early in the morning and I just didn't want to hear it. So I had to be a bit rude and said that I really didn't appreciate them coming to my door and soliciting their religion and if I wanted to be a Jehovah I would attend their place of worship. As i finished they were going on about Jesus and I just shut the door. They haven't returned since so I guess I scared them away. I was raised as a Christian but now I am a nonpracticing one. I don't see a reason to prove to the rest of the world that you believe in God by attending mass once a week.

I'm sure that they didn't mean to disrespect. They usually have a better sense on when its a good and a bad time to stay. But all you need to do if you want to have them stop visiting you is let the next person to come by your door have them put you on the do not visit list. They'll keep you on the list for 1 yr and then they come by again just to check if your circumstances haven't changed. If you still don't want to be visited then you'd just let them know. It's not rare when people have not wanted to talk with JW's and then because of a life changing situation they welcome them afterwards.

Seriously, at some point, they need to quit. If you have, say to them "Look, I don't mean to be rude, but I have accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I do not wish to hear about the JW. Please stop coming to my house. Should you step on my property one more time, I will be forced to call the police for trespassing. Since you've already told them they are not welcome, they are in fact, trespassing."
If that doesn't stop them, truly call the cops next time they come. You've asked them before, they have no right to keep interrupting your life.
I am not baptist, I am non-denominatiol/Full Gospel if you must. A saved Christian, although there efforts are valiant, and in their eyes, what needs to be done, when they are asked to stop, they should.

Jehovah's Witnesses rarely skip doors, even when the householder seems busy. The decision whether or not to have a conversation is therefore left to the householder's discretion, which seems to assure that the holy spirit can act on the householder's heart (or not, pointedly).

Shame on me... I had the same problem several years ago. Time after time I answered the door and politely told them I was not interested. As a last resort, I answered the door naked and told them I was in the middle of a Wiccan ritual and would they like to join me. They just about RAN away from my apartment door. Never saw them again.

Some years ago we had a couple of witnesses that did the same thing. Finally I asked them some questions they could not answer. I told them to only come back when they had the answers or come back and admit they were wrong.

Yes, they will eventually leave you alone. At some point they must have felt that they had made "contact" with you and are trying to reach out to you. It's always a mistake to talk with anyone who is pushing something you don't believe in, so let the doorbell ring and don't answer. They will get the message.

Do they still try to sell the little books? Not the paper things, but a small hardback? I bought one from them so they would leave me alone and it worked! I haven't seen a JW in 25 years!

Okay I am going to give you a tip that works EVERY TIME it sounds mean but it works! Next time a woman JW comes to the door tell her you are a lesbian and make an obvious advance on her. Touch her arm or lick your lips and wink or something. You will never be visited again - they actually will mark your home off their list.
