I love where I'm working right now, and my boss is the nicest guy, but they can't afford to employ me full time. Originally I decided to work there to go back to school, but that didn't work out like I wanted it to. I've accepted a job that pays nearly four times my other job. It's not something I enjoy as much... in fact it's pretty stressful... but I can't really turn down that kind of money. I had to start immediately so I can't go in to my old job. Normally I could care less, cause I'm just that kind of guy, but this guy has been so nice I feel like I'm the biggest scum of the earth for doing this and on such short notice. What do I do?!

Just tell him that you really didn't have any choice. But leaving him with no notice isn't fair - could you offer to come in evenings or weekends until he finds someone to take your place?

If he is a fantastic boss, he will understand.

He will also be glad you have been able to improve your situation, so tell him he is a fantastic boss but you need to move on.

Tell them that the training and wonderful work environment that he provided is making it so hard to leave, unfortunately, you were forced to find something that is full-time work.
