I get this message
"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file."

When I hit enter it tries to reboot and keep getting same message. How do I fix this. Please Help.

First make sure you want to reinstall windows you will loose anything you have on the computer when you do.

Insert the XP disk THEN turn the computer on, It will ask to boot from the CD answer yes. Select install when it gets to the part of which partition to install it on have it format the partition, then just follow the onscreen instructions.

That is a virus that attacked your system. Go to yahoo tech support pages for great links and clean up info.
