...the students came to him when they *wanted* the "truth." As christians, aren't you supposed to strive to be like Jesus and be a shining example to those around you? As christians you are commanded to spread the good news but at the same time aren't you supposed to leave it alone when someone rejects it. When I want to share something great with my fellow humans I show them, not just talk about it. If I claim something about myself and my beliefs won't you see it radiate from my inner being. I shouldn't have to talk about from sun up to sun down... you willl see it in all I do. Something to think about if you actually are practicing the greatest commandement of love instead of being self-righteouss and a know it all...

*Not a Christian but I think all Christians can agree with this statement.*

No one is required to be a Christian to know, believe and follow a great Saint Jesus.
He had that mental strength and positive energy to Practice what he preached. We all should emulate Jesus to be like him. He was a self realized person and wanted to develop the Self first so that the World will be better developed and ever lasting. An unattached saint is thought to be loveless by worldly people.
But alas no one can love and forgive like Jesus.

True, Jesus never "chased" people or "shoved" anything at them, but it's a mistake to think that He didn't go out and engage people with HIs message. The Gospels are very clear that He did.

Not only that, but He sent His closest disciples out into the world to bring people the Good News. He told them to "go, and make disciples of the nations."

He did not tell them to wait around for people to come to them; nor did He tell them to just set a good example for people. He went much further than that.

Jesus talked to everyone. He went to them and he approached everyone he saw and reached out to them. A good example is the Samaritan woman at the well who Jesus reached out to for a drink of water. It is not only about you being a christian, All Christians should understand that our mission here on earth is to bring those who are non believers to Him.

I was born/raised Christian. I now go to a Baptist church, but I agree with you. I think it is nice to share your thoughts and try to help people. However, some people don't want to hear it or do not believe. Those are the ones you hope your actions will catch their eye. Very good question.

Jesus did walk up to the woman at the well. I don't think she was looking for him. Also the woman about to be stoned. He got involved and called those men out that were going to stone her.
Christians can't change a persons heart. Only God can bring that change in a person.
Christians can point to the Light. It's up to the person to accept it.

And when Jesus told the people in the temple that they didn't have any love for God in their hearts and that they were children of the devil - did that phase you as being remarkable?

Here's the thing, there are all sorts of people here on RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY who are asking about God. The asker of the question is not the only one to see the answer. If I decide that I will answer a question, will you let me?

Yes I think you are right. I am a Christian, and believe it is better to live by example. As I heard a preacher say once, " I preach all the time, but use words only when necessary."

Well, some of the gospels mention that Jesus did use a whip to chase business people out of the temple. He was ranting about "his father's house" and so forth.

But Paul, the inventor of Christianity, said that everyone should spread the word. What the hell did Jesus know about Christianity anyway?
