Deciding on two certificate fields and one would be Pharmacy Tech. I noticed that some people are saying just apply at a pharmacy and they will train you. I would rather go to school (online) and get a certificate. Will this result in more pay and is it a plus when applying for a job? Gatlin Education is what comes up with my local Community College...is that a good curriculum?

There's a surplus of pharm techs. No one cares if you have an associates or not, but they do care if you have a licensed and are certified. Most of the pharm tech programs cost too much. The most I've ever heard a tech being paid is about $18 per hour with years of experience. Certification will get you an extra dollar or so.

A certified tech is someone who has passed an exam. You have to pass either the PTCE or eXcpt. Being certified does not give you any additional responsibilities and it really doesn't make you more competitive in the job market. It might give you more pay but that will depend on the pharmacy
