I mean... might God just be the Great "Am," and we are all the Great "I"s?
This is, of course, merely my own particular opinion and thoughts, but I don't see God as a personalized individual "I" like you or me. I see God as BE-ing the pure energy that IS you and me. And thus, I would say that God just IS, or that God is the Great "Am."
It is each and every one of us that personalizes this Great "Am." We are the "I" in the "I Am." We are the personalities that continue the story of life; that gives this Great "Am" its true glory.
Thoughts...? Feelings... ?

Maybe the reason that God has so many names, and is described as so many things, is convey that very message. Whatever you think of God as being, he is. I believe that even to people who do not believe there is a god, God is that belief. Don't you think?
We and all our beliefs are all a piece of the great puzzle that is God. It is like those paintings that if you see them from far away, you see this amazing picture, but when you look up close, it is just a bunch of colored dots.
I believe you are correct in saying that God is the great "Am" for God is in everything and is everything no matter what you label him as.

His supposed name is 'I Am'. Moses said, "I Am, has sent me." Moses' phoney story doesn't hold water either. God's names are place-holders, fake names to prevent mentioning his real name. Lord, God, Elohim, Yahweh, these are not true names. God's name is Yo! You hear it everywhere you go. It is the expression of discovering the Divine in every person that makes someone yell 'Yo!' because they see god in everyone. In the beginning was the word and the word was Yo!

In revealing his mysterious name, YHWH ("I AM HE WHO IS," "I AM WHO AM" or "I AM WHO I AM"), God says who he is and by what name he is to be called. This divine name is mysterious just as God is mystery. It is at once a name revealed and something like the refusal of a name, and hence it better expresses God as what he is—infinitely above everything that we can understand or say: he is the "hidden God," his name is ineffable, and he is the God who makes himself close to men.

people say that because in the old testament God said "I am who am" to someone and also to kind of point out that God has always and will always exsist outside of time like instead of being in the past present or future God just is
