have a 2000 civc that runs fine, it will be paid off next year. I've been thinking of buying a 2nd car to use as a back up, just in case the one I have breaks down for some reason or whatever. If for some reason or another my car was in the shop I'd be screwed and I don't like asking other people for rides or favors. I could also drop rental car coverage off my insurance. This car is going to be very lightly driven but I just don't want something to be more trouble then its worth. I have a neighboor thats selling an 95 Olds Cutless ciera with 48k on it, he wants 995$ for it but If I could get it for like 750$ I might think about it. Its about 80$ extra the insurance for six months.

I have an extra car and it comes in unbelivably handy. Especially when you have older verhicles. Personally I would rather have to older model cars than 1 newer car, just for the reasons that you stated above. Plus its also nice just to have a junker car to leave at the airport or whatever. I say do it, its worth it.

If you care about money, I am not sure you should get the second car. You would be better off renting a car or paying for a taxi. Buying a car and paying to have the car insured registered and maintained will cost a lot more money. The car you are looking to buy seems like a jalopy and will probably break down too. I would think about how much it might cost for you to go without a car for a week. That includes renting a new car, paying for taxi's, loss of pay from work and the "convenience factor". Assume this might happen once every two years. If this is much higher than the cost of a second car then do it, otherwise take your chances.

I had two cars for a while but not for the same reason.

If your goal is to save money, you'll be dissapointed. Considering the frequency of use, maintenance, insurance, tag, etc, it'll be far cheaper to rent one when you need one.

If you want flexibility and convenience, it's a nice thing to do.

It's all depends on what you want.

How do you figure 95 Olds (22 years old) car is reliable? If I was doing it, I'd pick something like a pickup truck of more recent years so I can have utility as well as backup.

hi. Definetly choose for the 206 CC. no longer in basic terms is it the perfect looking of the three, it relatively is going to additionally incorporate a great style of equipment which you wont get in the others. leather-based seats, computerized headlights and an electric powered roof are in basic terms some issues. the 1st actual batch of the CCs had some roof issues, however the autos have been recalled and repaired below guarantee. only make confident the roof works properly in the past you purchase and if it grew to become into affected, that the paintings grew to become into performed. it truly is a huge fee for a CC, i could bounce at it. while summer season arrives you would be cruising around with your roof down, while you would be sweating in the different 2. I relatively have a 206 Hatchback and it relatively is been marvelous for the two years i've got owned it. they're great autos. My aunt has a Toyota Yaris and he or she hates it. curiously it lacks consumer friendliness and hers hasn't even have been given a CD participant or AC. The Polo is an the two boring vehicle which i will inform you from previous journey is relatively uncomfortable. properly, have exciting taking your magnificent off (on the 206!) desire this helped.

Can you seriously afford it? I don't know many people that have "back up" cars...i mean i dont know your financial or life situation but if it fits in just fine then sure go ahead...but if it will strain things out, just be patient and wait it out a little. After all, no one buys back up houses until its necessary to move onto the next way. Same thing with cars, if it's just you, just trade your car in for a new one or wait it out...don't have a 'back up car'

I think you should wait till your first car gets paid off then you can check your car over to see if anything is wrong with it. If there isn't then feel free to buy a back up car. Its really your choice if you want another car or not.

I wouldn't , you fail to say how many miles are on your Civic , I know folks who have them that the miles are in the high 100 thousand and mid 200 thousand range. I would take the money you want to spend on the second car and use it to have your Civic serviced so you don't have to worry about any future problems...
