ADHD stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. The disorder is characterized by difficulty regulating activity level -hyperactivity, difficulty maintaining attention and impulsive behavior. My little brother is diagnosed with ADHD and he basically has tons of energy- he won't stop for a second- if it’s talking or moving or interrupting others. He has a real problem in school- listening for a long period of time...his mind just wanders off, and he'll ask you a question and after you'll answer he'll talk about something completely different...like he wasn't listening and already was distracted by the next thought...He is very intelligent (and does well on tests) its just that when he sits to study or read something his attention may shift to the sound of cars outside, the fly in the room, the itch in his leg etc...Whereas most people could shut those distractions out - he can't. Also he can't control impulses and even if he tries real hard it extremely difficult for him to NOT stop you in the middle of a sentence or move all around when you ask him to stay in one place...There are allot of ways to work on these behaviors with professional help that teach things like listening, keeping personal space from other people, calming down and more. Also, allot are given Ritalin that calms you down and enables you to maintain attention.
Hope that helped!

ADHD is an over-diagnosed problem that enables lazy parents who don't want to take care of their kids a nice way to drug them into a zombie-like state, thereby making them easier to control.

Yes, there are actual cases of ADHD also, where prescription medication is helpful. However, I've seen cases where the kids were simply acting like kids, and needed a good asss-whooping (which the parents refused to do, because they don't believe in spanking - good grief...). So the parents decided to have their children medicated. Now, I know of one kids who is now 19, and cannot be taken off the medication. He has been turned conpletely into a corpse, and doesn't really interact with anybody anymore.

Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder. It makes you a dork.

My nephew has that among other things, and he is a little strange. He talks back, likes to hurt small animals, does not listen and really throws fits if his teachers try to make him do his school work. He can not concentrate well, and is always on the move. He is on medication, and i think there are some other mental issues that he is experiencing as well though.
