Most of the answers reminded me of the reason Judy gave Scott in The Santa Claus movie... "Seeing isn't believing, believing is seeing." Sounds very juvenile. No wonder the bible wants everyone to be like children.

I read your question, the first one, but didn't answer it. I will answer it now though. I believe that God inspired the writers of His Word and has kept His Word pure because of many different things. First, you guessed it, the Bible says it is so. Second, the Dead Sea Scrolls were almost a word for word translation of the text we currently have. Third, many of the prophecies have come to pass and many are in the throws of being brought to fruituion as we speak. Fourth, the Bible was written by many different men, but it is coherent and backs itself up. Fifth, any attempts to destroy it from the earth have failed. Sixth, man would not write the things found in the Bible, as atheists point out all the time, ti makes no sense from a humanistic point of view, but it makes perfect sense from a spiritual point of view. And, finally,I have felt the Holy Spirit move in me and in my life so it is easy for me to believe that the Holy Spirit could move in the lives of others to allow them to do His will. The reason I did not answer the first time is because I know that my reasons don't necessarily stand up to any arguments. It is something I believe to be true because the Holy Spirit allows me to understand it as truth. No one that does not believe that can understand it because they do not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them.

You stopped nothing my friend; your egoistic, ignorant nature is uncivil and culturally immature.
You are a little man with a stunted imagination and an empty shell for a brain.
You truly don't belong here my friend; try finding a deep lonely hole in a rocky place where undeveloped beings seek refuge from the thought of reality.
You are a very foolish little thing.

THats not a debate stopper - its a tough question to respond to - and you know that the "typical" reaction to a tough question is to pretend like you didnt see it.

Sorry, it'll just take a lot of people a little bit longer to think through that one.
