While this is not the case for the entire Bible, some of the authors in the Bible (most notably Isaiah) did prophesy some forthcoming events.

While many writings in the Bible are alleged (probably rightly so) to have been written later than their claimed historical period, this is not the case with Isaiah, Jeremiah, psalms, and a couple of the epistles.

Does it mean that the entire Bible is God's indisputable word? No. But it does mean that at least some parts of the Bible are valuable.

Here are three of the reasons why I believe the Bible is inspired by God.
Prophecy: The Old Testament was written before Jesus was ever born. The New Testament was written by the men who knew Jesus, who walked with Him, ate with Him, and learned from Him. In the O.T. there are prophecies concerning His birthplace (Micah 5:1-2), that He would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14), that He would be rejected by His own people (Isaiah 53:3), that He would be betrayed by a close friend (Isaiah 41:9), that He would die by having His hands and feet pierced (Psalm 22:16-18), and that He would rise from the dead (Psalm 16:10, 49:15). In the N.T. all these prophecies, and many more, are fulfilled by Jesus. Now, this is the question you must answer: "If the Bible is not inspired from God, then why does it have so many fulfilled prophecies?" How is that possible if the Bible were not from God?
Only God knows the future, has power over it, and can look into it to tell us exactly what will happen. In the Bible we have the fingerprints of God: fulfilled prophecy!
Wisdom: The Bible is full of the greatest truths about man and God, sin, and salvation. The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5) is beautiful in its wisdom, humility, and love. The Psalms are incredible poetry of great depth and beauty. The N.T. epistles are great descriptions of love, forgiveness, longsuffering, kindness, etc. (Even if you don't want to become a Christian, studying the truth God has revealed in the Bible will greatly help you in your life.)
In addition The Bible consists of 66 books: 39 in the OT and 27 in the NT. The Bible took about 1600 years to write. It was written in three languages (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) by about 40 authors and is internally consistent throughout. The odds of that happened to me seem to be pretty slim if it was just by chance.

The Bible tells us that God inspired men to write down His message to people. We are always the glove to God's hand. He always uses people to fulfill His will in the earth.

Moses parted the Red Sea? Of course not! We all know that God did it but He told Moses to stretch out his hands and it happened.

People don't understand why they were created and that God actually does partner with us.

As for the Bible, God stayed with His pattern. His servants were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down what He had to say. It's not a narrative and if men had written it, may sins would have been covered up or omitted. God never defends himself or allows cover-ups. He exposes us............for our own good.

Some may not have even known their work was inspired by the Holy Spirit - they just felt lead by God to make the record they did. The New Testament is filled with eye witness accounts to help people believe...........

The test for being a prophet was that everything you prophesied had to transpire the way you said or you were stoned to death. All of the prophets of the Bible passed that test..........

They were inspired by God because the books of the bible were written decades apart, how else would all come to this common knowledge???

Because the Bible was written by approximately 54 people over about a 1700 year period and is completely cohesive. That means from beginning to end it says the same thing.
That's an amazing feat considering how people mess up a story just from one person to another, much less over a 17 century period.

Did I read "fanofchan" correctly? Did he or she say that the Bible is inspired because it SAYS it is inspired? Then OJ is innocent because he SAID he was innocent!
