We are thinking about that option too. Mainly because we are both divorced and have been there done that whole wedding thing. But whats holding us back is the possibility that it might hurt our loved ones.

My hubby and I eloped... we had our parents and my little brother there... we made it into an all weekend event and had a great time... I even wore white and my mom brought me a garter too!
About a year and a half later we actually had a ceremony... as if nothing had ever happened... a full out ceremony, pictures, reception, rehearsal dinner... the whole sha-bang.
We wanted to get married for certain reasons (I'm in college, he's military, etc.) but we still wanted to have the memories of a traditional wedding...
According to my wedding coordinator, a lot of people do this now-a-days... it also helped take some stress off of the wedding part because we were already married...
I loved how we ended up doing things. I would have been unhappy if I never would have had the wedding, the memories, the celebration... but it was a great thing for us to elope in the beginning...

Nope, No regrets. Sometimes when my husband and I get into a big fight...the thought of mistake runs through my mind... but our love keeps us together and we are so happy together. It all depends how long you've been together before eloping. Good luck!

My husband an I kind of eloped. We told no one that we are going to be married and had a destination wedding, just the 2 of us.
When we returned we invited only our immediate family and closests friends to a party that was a "surprise wedding reception".Absolutely no regrets!

I imagine it would be very cool. Plus you don't have to worry about being set back an insane amount of $!

just the fact that we now do not have any pictures. (That was 32 years ago). Take along a camera, and have someone snap a few for you
