"Any woman who prays with her head unveiled dishonors her head. It is the same as if her head were shaven, for if a woman will not veil herself then she should cut off her hair. But if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven , let her wear a veil. (1 Corenthians 11 :5).

Whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
(MATT 5:28-29).

TIT002:005 - To be discreet, chaste, keepers at HOME, good, OBEDIENT to their HUSBANDS...

1PE 3:001 - Likewise, ye wives, be in SUBJECTION to your own HUSBANDS. -------

Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in SUBMISSION, as the Law says. -- 1 Corinthians 14:34

Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach [didaskein], nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (1 Timothy 2:11-12)

Ecclesiastes 7:26 KJV: And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her but she will catch whoever continues to sin. (GOD'S WORD®)

"I permit no woman to teach or have authority over men".

Christianity is not a very nice religion really.

It condones slavery. Slaves are told to remain slaves and bethankful that G*d 'loves' them.

It condones a strict moral code that treats women as cattle to be owned and exploited.

This man single handedly warped the whole development of what he dared to call 'christianity'.

This is the hypocrite that circumcised his boyfriend (timothy) yet wrote against the practice to other christians.
This is the ambitious tax collector who saw the chance to be 'top dog' in the fledgling church by steering it away from Judaism and into a Greek sect.
This is the business traveller who got severe sunstroke while riding his donkey along the 'interstate' dirt track that went down into Israel.
The 'Revelation' on the track-road to Damascus is
the sole basis for this man's audacious usurping of a spiritual movement.

That's IF you believe that this Saul of Tarsus fellow actually DID write and do all these things.

The Gospels weren't written until more than a century after Jesus died. Plenty of time for inaccuracies and distortions to creep in.
These 'letters' were written on parchment that falls apar after a few years. So there IS no written record

ALL WE HAVE IS HEARSAY.

Personally I think this all deserves to be left wherevit belongs . . . . IN THE FOSSILS OF THE PAST.

I'm a Christian and when I was new to Christianity, I also thought Paul was a male chauvinist. I think what got me thinking this was the way some pastors misused his writings to keep women in what they think is the woman's place. Well,I had the pleasure of studying the life of Paul and boy did I get a different picture of him in that study. Though he was unwaveable in his doctrine, he was a humble man with a servant's heart. No one in the Bible suffered the physical abuse that he encountered except Christ, Himself. Paul actually had a great respect for women and he even states the success of his ministry rested on the many women of faith who involved themselves. As for the scriptures you quoted there are reasons.
Remember we have just walked out of the Old Testament and the Jews are still following the letter of the law. The woman's hair was her honor. A woman without a covering wasn't observing proper custom. Also, the women were kept separate from the men in the synagogues. The "church" as we know it was just coming into existence. Women speaking out would certainly cause disorder for the services simply because these things take time for change. In the particular church Paul was speaking to, the women had caused so much disruption he was simply disciplining that particular church. As for the women teaching, It is the order of things to have the men in charge.....God created man with that responsibility and ability. Doesn't mean women can't teach.....but respect the order God has placed on things in order to have harmony and no discord. And what can you possibly find wrong with women being descreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, and obedient to their husbands? Women are equipped naturally to be "nesters" and their has to be one in the family that everyone answers to. God created man with this ability. He is to love his wife, she is to respect him. When they both obey God in this, it works out perfectly, just as God designed it.

I don't . I think that a part of what Paul wrote was typical of the place he grew up in.

He was an Apostle, but he was still a man like I am. We are fallible. No news there.

Paul shined best I think when he would unfold the Old Testament into what we call the New Testament. There does not seem to be an equal to him on that. He was far above those others in understanding of these things apparently.

I really am not concerned if Paul was a Male Chauvenist or not. I am concerned that he said what was true about God. And I think he was.

He was inspired by his ignorant superstitious imagination . As for hiding hair or faces , my wife has beautiful hair and features , so has no need to hide them . Others are not so fortunate . Hiding under a black tent is more attractive than without the tent for many .
This is primitive ignorant reasoning that still persists today in the primitive ignorant minds of many .
Just exactly what authority did he imagine himself to have to permit , or not permit anything ?

Paul is problemmatic. He started his career as a fierce persecutor of Christians, the became a proselytizer throughout the Roman Empire. On the other hand, he went beyond his predjudices by advocating for Gentile inclusion in the Jewish/Christian church. Very misogynistic in some cases, but quite tolerant in others. Definitely apocalyptic. I wonder if he wasn't just searching like many of us here on R&S, but that his motivation and extremism didn't just overwhelm his humility and compassion?

Absolutely! I live by it too. My husband has the final say in our household. That does not mean that my opinion is not valued or heard, it means that the final decision rests with him. He also has to answer for me and our children before God, I wouldn't want that responsibility! I also don't believe that any woman truly understands what it means to be a man any more than a man understands what it truly means to be a woman. How can I rule over a man and why would I want to? This doesn't make me any less of a person or of any less importance. We are to be submissive to man because Eve was the one to sin first and cause the fall of man. It is the price we pay for her sin, as is pain in childbearing. Just as toiling the earth and labor are man's punishment for Adam's sin.

You have taken that all out of context. Paul placed women in places of authority and as teachers and leaders. The part you are referring to was aimed at particular women who were causing disruption in that particular church, you should have read the whole thing.

perhaps you should study some of the history during that time frame....

who where the people that Paul was talking to during this time?

Gentiles who were learning of the Gospel....

who were the temple priestesses of that time? they wore their hair very short or shaved head....they needed to listen to the word of the Gospel and learn their proper place and behavior at that time....

read things in the context of the time period they are written and they might make some sense....

Who are we to tell God how He is to be worshiped? You think maybe - God is weak - He could not inspire Paul to write exactly what He wanted - or is it you that is week and just plain refuse to obey God's Will?

You will confess Jesus is the Son of God one day - then you shall receive your judgment.
