Dirt would be the foundation of the earth. And he wanted THAT man to be the foundation for the rest of the people.
And he created Eve from the rib of Adam because God wanted them to be a part of each other.

Because that's what he wanted men to be made out of it's just like me asking why did God have to create women out of a man's rib but that because he wanted us to be made out of that!

Let's get one thing straight. God didn't *have* to create man out of the dust, but *chose* to. Big difference!

Same reason He chooses to use sinful man to actually bring His Word to us. Same reason He sent His Son to become like us in every way, yet without sin, to die for us.

He did create out of nothing. Where do you think the dirt came from? Nothing. It's just that He decided to do so indirectly rather than directly.

Most biblical theologians, I'm pretty sure would tell you, that He chose to create man out of dirt *&* breathe His own breath into man/woman because He had created them in His own image. It's about His intimate relationship with humans over the other fawna & flora kingdoms. Imagine, He formed us with His own hands & He breathed His own breath into us. It's because from the beginning He's been a personal & immanent God. To have that recorded is for us, so that we know that we have a God who is not just transcendent & far off, but One who was intimately involved in our creation.

Not only that, but we have a God who after we sinned & separated ourselves from Him, came down in the form of a man--the God-Man, Jesus Christ who was conceived in the womb of the woman, just like we are, for the primary purpose of taking our sins upon Himself, so that we could be saved ultimately from sin, death & the power of the devil. How about that?!

What a wonderful, loving, intimate & immanent, yet immutable God we have!

The Hebrew word for "mankind" is "adam" and the Hebrew word for "dirt or earth" is "adamah". It's a play on words, you'll find a lot of them all throughout the new and old testaments and they make reading the bible a lot more interesting if you know what to look for. This also affirms (to me at least) my belief that the creation story is allegorical.

You could wonder about MANY things-- but the point still remains, God did things HIS way, and that is all that matters.
Why is the sky blue? Why could it of not been green? And the grass been blue?
See what I mean.....
God can make man out of just a "thought" for God is all powerful and nothing is impossible for Him.
But here are a list of correlating passages:

Genesis I is the Spiritual Creation of man. Genesis 2 is the material concept of man created so that men/women at that time could understand the concept of Creation by the One God.

Genesis I, KJV
6 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

his name was adam which if i am not mistaken in either latin or hebrew for the word adhama which means copper/earth
cause he was made in the likeness of God have you ever seen white or beige dirt?
the rib is because he is to keep her by his side to protect her
he is not meant to walk in front or behind her but by her side which is where the rib is located

Because man is a special creation....one that includes an aspect of every prior creation. the reason for this is so that man can ultimately understand all of creations as all of creation is included in him and also to remind man to be humble insofar as even the lowliest of the low was created before man came to be.

because silly putty wasn't around

As far as a woman, goes. God told Adam that to create a perfect and equal partner for him that he would need to take half his power and strength and intelligence.
After Adam thought about it, he asked God...
"What do i get for a rib?"

If this were not true, i would have told you so.

According to the Book of Zohar, God DID try to create a woman out of nothing; but he was too grossed out by her.

Eve was created from a part of Adam so that women would be forced into a subservient role.
