I never really looked at the calories I eat each day, but I calculated it this morning. I thought it was a lot more. I'm 5'8" and weigh 125 pounds.

I have always been really thin, right now is about the biggest I have ever been. I guess the mid 20's caught up with me. I am not trying to lose weight.

at 5'8" and 125 pounds you are underweight, which can be as dangerous as being overweight in some ways. Suggest that you require at least 1200 calories a day. At a mere 800 calories a day you are considered anorexic so you are borderline. It is good that you are becoming more conscious of your weight as it relates to your health. Don't just eat more empty calories, find additional healthy snacks to add to your routine diet.

1000 Calorie Diets are mostly for people that want to lose a lot of weight. I know someone who is a diabetic and went to a Weight Loss Clinic. They put him on an 800 calorie a day diet. He was only supposed to do it for 2 weeks as it was dangerous to have levels that low. You should increase your calorie intake by probably another 500 calories at least. This also depends on the amount of activities you do and exercise as well. The more exercise you do, the more calories you are going to burn, thus you will have to increase your intake. Are you trying to gain weight? If so, definitely add on the calories, but make sure to do it at a healthy rate, don't just eat empty calories. Make sure that your fats, carbohydrates and proteins are balanced properly as well.

well you're on the lower end of your ideal body weight, and most women (i assume you are) need a minimum of 1200 calories, when not doing consistent exercise, and since you are above average height, you are going to need even more. you must be very fatigued and not able to function your best when only eating that amount. probably moody too if you lack the appropriate amount of carbs that you need per day too.

It depends on height and age. At your height 1000 calories is NOT enough regarless of your age. If you are under 25, and active, you should be eating about 2000 cal./day.

you should be eating around 1500 a day if your trying to maintain your weight...if your trying to lose weight 1000 calories and excersise would do the trick.
