It must be large enough to accomodate 100 to 150 guests. The wedding is in June.

How about the River Forest Manor in Belhaven, North Carolina. I went to a wedding there a few years ago and it was lovely. The town is quaint, on the water and quiet nice.

Have you considered wineries? A lot of wineries have beautiful areas. I know Rock of Ages does and its gorgeous

Also, every hotel in Myrtle Beach does them and would easily hold that many.

Perhaps consider looking into historic homes too. I know in Raleigh they have lots of houses owned by the Raleigh Parks and Rec. But in your area it may be owned by the county. Those are often smaller so it may take some time to find one that holds 150. However the often have rules like no dancing as the hardwood floors are expensive.

Most Shriners temples are beautiful locations and very affordable. Mine was held at one in Raleigh. Look up those in your area.

Plantation homes?

that one gives you links to a bunch of other places too which is why I included it even though its not the places website

How far east do you consider "south eastern"? Lumberton and Fayetteville, Greenville--or are you looking for something really on the beach? Wilmington and right there are Sunset Beach/Cherry Grove Beach.

Emerald Isle in NC does a lot--you might check around that area too.

Well lucky you, I was born and raised in southeastern NC. Maybe I can help you out! I don't know what you consider "affordable" so I will just list some ideas that my fiance and I have considered. We are getting married in NC in a hotel ballroom near our home in October of next year.

A good way to start is to head to www.theknot.com, click on "In Your Area", scroll down to North Carolina or South Carolina, click on "all areas", then click on "Reception and Ceremony sites". This will give you a listing of several different places where you can have a wedding and reception or one or the other. Most of the places listed there have links to their individual websites too so you can get more information and prices, etc.

If you weren't getting married in the middle of summer, I'd suggest a beach wedding. However, June is right smack dab in the middle of tourist season, so a beach wedding may be difficult to pull off, especially with 100-150 guests. Plus, have you ever experienced NC humidity? Trust me, you don't want to be in a big white dress on the beach in June heat and humidity! But, if you really did want to go the beach wedding route, I'd suggest finding a fantastic rental house with a private beach and rent it out and have the wedding at the house. I went to a wedding like this just this past weekend in Topsail Island, NC. It was gorgeous!!! Lots of hotels on the NC coast have big ballrooms specifically for weddings, so you may want to check that out. Check out the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Wrightsville Beach or the Hilton Riverside in Wilmington.

I would suggest checking out historic downtown Wilmington. There are some lovely historic churches in that area. What do you think about a riverboat wedding? Cape Fear Riverboats in Wilmington will allow you to rent out a riverboat and have your wedding and reception aboard the boat while you cruise down the Wilmington waterfront. Visit www.cfrboats.com to check it out. My fiance and I loved this idea, but it was out of our price range. But it may be in yours!

Like someone else said, there are lots of historic B&Bs and manors all across NC. Several of them are listed on The Knot's website that I gave you earlier. Or you could get married at a winery. Check out the Duplin Winery in Magnolia, NC (I grew up near there). They do weddings there and they have some GOOD wine!! I think Hinnant Family Vineyards in Pine Level (near Smithfield) does weddings too.

As far as SC goes, look into Myrtle Beach. There are lots of wedding chapels there (some small, some large) and many of the hotels there on the beach have ballrooms, etc. Charleston, SC would be a gorgeous wedding location, but it may be further south than you're willing to go. It's a historic town with lots of nice churches too.

Hope this helped you out some!!! Good luck!!

What about the big park in Greenville, it's behind the governors school and the summer shakespeare festival is held there every year. It's a completely gorgeous park.
