I need to buy a new sofa and wonder if I should buy one now on a random sale or if later in the year there will be a bigger sale.

Labor Day is one of the biggest for furniture. Many stores do offer great deals at the end of the year January Clearance before they have to do their taxes. I'd say the end of the year clearance is a best bet.

Christmas is a major sales holiday for most stores, including furniture. Others like to schedule their sales according to seasons.

I personally don't like trying to shop holiday sales: They tend to be noisy and crowded, with a lot of people scrapping over the silliest things. But if that's what you want, go for it if you see a sale that you like!

i would think around Cristmas and possibly after. think twice if u have to special order and u need it right away, they may be back ordered. I would go after Christmas when things calm down. check around and see if any furniture stores are going to have promotions (sales).
