This was roughly taken from Doug Stanhope Comedy special, go and discuss!

But this brings an interesting point: The idea of an afterlife and heaven seems awesome, so why stay on earth (alive). Now I don't mean go kill yourself because if you're Catholic you're going to hell. I say take the martyr route or be religously agressive in dangerous ventures in missonary work where there are a lot of incurable diseases!

But seriously I kid, but I like seeing cheery Christians who love the life that their God gave them. I just find it funny at the end of the day they become a fichus...a holy fichus!

I'm glad that some of you see the humor in this question it's like Dane Cook: "It would be funny if that Atheist became a tree then was made into the HOLY BIBLE!"
Irony!

Because not wearing a seat-belt doesn't always end up in death. You could just be horribly maimed and in pain for the rest of your life. Who would want that?

I think one reason to wear a seat belt is it's the law.
Christians should obey the law.
Actually this is something I was talking about with my brother the evening he died.
Who wants to go to heaven? Everybody? Well, when?
We say not now - too many things we want to do.
Maybe we don't really understand heaven or we'd want to go there. That was my brother's conclusion.
And he forgot his seatbelt when he started driving two hours later. He fell asleep and rolled the vehicle, and was thrown.
I found out at that moment that somehow I wanted to wait too.
Maybe partly because we don't any of us understand death too well, and it's a little scary.
Also, there's things I'd like to do for the Lord yet.
But really, I do want to go to heaven, and if my work here's finished, then great! I'd like to go today.
Somehow I don't think it is yet

And likewise, if athesist believe that nothing exists after they die, then why bother doing ANY thing? They can't take their gold or silver with them; they can't extend anything they do to mean any thing. Why even bother?

Read Ecclesiastes for a real serious look at life from a hedonistic (ie "pleasure seeking", or "ungoldy: or "no God will intervene in MY lifestyle) type of life. "ALL is vanity. There is one thing that is common to both the good and the bad, and that is death." and "There is one thing in common to both the rich and the poor" and "There is no difference between man and animal. They both go down to the grave." "Vanity of vanities! All is vanity!" Read the book (you'll find it in the Bible) - honestly, it really IS a real eye opener!

by the way, what is a "fichus"??? or a "holy" fischus? Is there also an "unholy" fichus, as well?

Christians wear seatbelts because, In the bible it says to follow the laws of man...it also says you can do things to shorten you days...or life..ie...drive on the wrong side of the road when you know you could be hit....

Same reason the pope has a popemovile with bulletproof glass and all that, I mean if he's supposedly the closest there is to a god, what's the worst it could happen?

Because here on Earth is where we learn about God and love and it is here that the Kingdom of Heaven begins, not after our deaths.

they love the idea of an afterlife, but they don't like the idea of getting a ticket for no seatbelt.

Because they know deep in their 'souls' that heaven doesn't exist, and they can never bring themself to take the chance for if they are wrong.
