Some gases ("greenhouse gases") let sunlight in, which warms the Earth, and then block that heat from leaving. That's the "greenhouse effect", and it's a natural thing, mostly caused by water vapor.

Man is making excessive amounts of greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels. That causes the delicate natural balance to go out of whack and the Earth warms. That's global warming.

It won't be a Hollywood style disaster. Gradually coastal areas will flood and agriculture will be damaged. But it will be very bad. Rich countries will cope, but it will take huge amounts of money. In poor countries many people will die of starvation, but not all of them.

Most scientists say, in 20-50 years. But we need to start right now to fix it, fixing it will take even longer than that.

Really good website for more information here:

Lots of numerical scientific data proving it real here:

Proof that most scientists think it's real and mostly caused by us here:

Well ,I've been following global trends for awhile and my guess is that this (global warming) is a natural cycle that has been sped up by too much pollution. However I also think that it will go in the other direction, (global cooling). One of the things found during this warming trend was the finding of tree stumps under what was once a glacier, in Greenland. Like brrrr Greenland. Seems to me it was once a lot warmer in that baren wasteland and a lot hotter at the equator. So over the course of millions of years of weather don't you think the planet has been to hell and back and it isn't so bad right now?

Think about this, even if everyone in the country stop using gas, factoring chemicals, and other sources of harmful waste, do you really think that's going to make a differences? Global warming is a world-wide problem. I think the damage as already been done. As long as this world stay in this high-tech society mind frame, then we are all doom.
Sorry it's just my idea

Global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation.

the ozone layer whixh protects us from the harmfull uv and other rays is depleting beacuse of the excess release of greenhouse gases or pollutants like carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

as a result the earth is becomiing warmer and warmer each year. the holes in the ozone layers are increasing particularly over the antartica reigon .

presently the carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere is around 350 ppm and if it reaches to 500 ppm then the earty wont be able to sustain itself.

Some green house gases especially aerosol sprays affect the ozone. Because of those gases the ozone layer has a big hole in the middle of it. The ozone layer protects us from really harmful rays.

The harmful rays reach earth and melt the poles(Antarctic and Arctic). The poles melt and raise the sea level which can cause major floods and destroy the whole plane from 2 sides.

..Is absolutely not true at all.

I do believe in global warming, but not man-made global warming or AGW. Global warming is the natural heating and cooling of the Earth that occurs in cycles. Al Gore has tricked many into believing that we will all die in 25 years if we don't do something now. He has basically turned it into a religion. You have to agree it even sounds like one, (environmentalism, environmentalists, etc.)

Al Gore has as much credibility on environmental issues, as Bill Clinton has on marital fidelity.

Take a look at Gore’s documentary for example; he exaggerates his figures by 1000%, as proven by one of his former colleagues. He also fails to accurately show the warming period in medieval times of which the years were hotter on average then any other time in history. Truth is, the Earth goes through cycles of warming and cooling, and according to past recordings, we are nowhere near as hot now as it was several hundred years ago in the Middle Ages. He’s telling us all to ride our bikes to work when he flies a personal Lear jet around the world and 4 out of 5 of his houses consume 20 times more energy then the normal consumer.

William M. Gray, a climatologist and pioneer in the science of studying hurricanes, said there is absolutely NO man-made global warming, or Anthropological Global Warming (AGW) in a speech at the University of North Carolina (UNC).

I don't feel obligate to provide anymore references to people disbelieving global warming because there are simply too many to name. You should know however, that over half of scientists worldwide (except for the ones on the IICC) disbelieve AGW.

There’s something wrong here…

The media consists of left-wing deacons, who continue spreading Gore's sermon to the uneducated and unaware to foster love for him in order to provide him with funds so he can fly around the world in his own personal CO2 emitting Lear jet.

Thanks for your time,

If you have any questions please contact me, and don't listen to those nerds who try to tell you otherwise.

global warming - increase in temparature on an average in the earth (due to more of co2)

2007-10-17 06:02:35 · answer #7 · answered by eagerbuddy 1 · 0 0

yes, definitively- To whatever definable amount attributed to human co2 emission, and earth's natural cycling. But regardless, it is happening, so we can choose to do (however much it amounts to) what we can, or not. And you don't havta drive a Prius.. hell a Corolla gives good gas mileage.. but it's about cutting out the fat (buyin' gallon size bottles, driving unnecessarily, reducing the expontential population increase!)
