Eikyu M gave the best answer. Sugar, in and of itself, is *not* harmful to our bodies in any way if consumed in moderation. Sugar, however, has little physiological benefit other than calories. This is not a *bad* thing - we *all* need calories to live. However, people have a tendency to over-indulge, causing weight gain and all the associated medical problems. Also, sugar has little in the way of nutrients (other than calories) that our bodies need to maintain health.
So, the answer is that we should all eat a balanced diet. Sugar can most certainly be included in a healthy diet.

Actually, that's not true, to a degree. We need sugars, because they are found in fruits and vegetables, which you probably know have loads of vitamins and nutrients. Sugars are also found in milk, one of the best sources of calcium.
However, most of us take in too much sugar from candy and other junk. And taking in less high fructose corn syrup is better for everyone. No, HFCS won't make you obese or give you cancer, but it's so sweet you just crave more.

it's not so much the sugar it's the Carbohydrates that you have to watch when your diabetic. But in answer to your question. there are two types of sugar one natural the other processed. the natural sugar the body can process easily the processed sugar the body has to convert into a natural sugar before it can process it. it takes two natural sugars to turn one processed sugar into a natural sugar. So if you eat too much processed sugar you can cause your body to go into sugar shock by depleting the natural sugar in your system.
Yes, too much of anything can be bad for you.

Our body needs sugar. The natural sugar that comes in fruits and vegetables. What we don't need is added sugar. You would be surprised how much sugar there is in ketchup and soda and stuff like that. Read the labels and avoid extra sugar.
