Some Christians are "self righteous" and "judgmental" instead of loving and accepting everyone like Christ did. They make ALL Christians look bad to unbelievers/atheists. We as Christians are supposed to represent Christ to the best of our ability. I will say its only natural to get angry (Christians are allowed) when unbelievers/atheists say bad things about Christ. Its like if they said something bad about your mother, father, spouse or child or anyone else you love and care about. The unbelievers/atheists some are genuinely good nice people they just don't believe in God but some are mean and want to argue and challenge everything that God is about; its like their mission.

I could never figure out why because it makes no sense on its own. The idea of not using scripture is not a new one. Thomas Aquinas has a whole book about it and he lived in the 13th century. The idea that it was a foolish undertaking was old even back then. I think it is because scripture quoting is sometimes used to draw others from an other sect that they don't consider to be following the Bible as well as they think they are. Some think that all others that don't believe as they do are non-believers. They get fixated on the only tool that worked for them against other Christians and use it with a vengeance expecting the same results even though the target is different. It would be like a person eating only soup their entire life suddenly having to eat spaghetti and insisting on eating it with a only with a spoon because that's all they know. Its obvious for everyone watching how pointless it is but not so obvious to the person that's not getting it. Chris is an excellent example of this.

I try not to be nasty, but apparently I can be sometimes. I am an ex-christian that questioned my beliefs. I am now an atheist that looks back at what I was and what many christians are and am shocked by the stupidity of it. I followed blindly because I was told to. Following a religion is like kids doing drugs because of peer presure, if everyone else is doing it...

If people want to believe that is fine. It gives many people hope and a reason for being. But what gets me is the double standards that many live by, preach one thing and do another. They will tell me I am going to hell, but then they do everything I do, except they hide behind Jesus & god.

I believe in God, but I don't try to force my beliefs on anybody. I also think there are very few "Christians" out there and most people are just religious. The real Christians don't bible bash and try to force their Jesus down your throat. I have love for everybody regardless of what they believe. I can be friends with an atheist as long as he/she doesn't try to convince me that what I believe is wrong.

From: Greg T (Christian)

Subject: Do you have a mental illness or are you a Christian in denial?

Message: You are either a Christian in denial or you have a mental disorder. Which is it? You didn't answer the question before, you just avoided the question like a typical cowardly atheist.
Are you a closet Christian or a kook?
I'd suggest you read the bible. Have you heard of the bible? Do you know what that is? Can you read? The bible has many words in it, so it might be a bit much for you. Maybe you can get your mommy to read it to you while you sit on her lap. I'll pray for you. I hope that God cures your mental disorder (or gives you the strength to come out of the Christian closet). Christianity is not something to be ashamed of anyways, so I don't know why you'd be in the closet about that! It's not like you're gay or something! (Are you?)

This type of shyte is what makes me dislike religion in general. I dont dislike Christians persay, except for this particular one... Obviously, the guy is a troll and all, but most know me on this site as being one of the more tolerant people - so why he seems to be focusing on me, I dont understand... People like Jordyn above me also churn my stomach... Just so you know, I dont care what your religion is - I still think youre entitled to life, liberty and happiness. Too bad your Christian breathren dont feel the same about us, huh?

Well sweetie that's good that you do what God & Jesus expects of all of us to do, some are just lost sheep and need someone to find their way. I'm no Christian but I believe in the great power of God, and I feel like all we can do is be good to our selves and others too, to love unconditionaly and remove the negativity from our hearts and minds but what others do is out of our hands & all we can do is pray for them.....

Sarcasm is the number 1 post in this place..... I do NOT hate or dislike any PERSON, it is the answers that get to me at times....... people point a finger at you but forget they have 4 pointing back at them....... People mock what they do not know or understand....... they pick answers from people who do NOT know the answer to certain questions, such as: when a non-believer ask a question about what a Christian is thinking or believes, it NEVER fails they choose an answer from a non-believer, and it happens the other way around too........ What I do NOT get is people answering questions that do NOT fall into their belief systems...... why bother ?? people are intittled to their own opinions, I KNOW THIS, but to answer a question (s) you know NOTHING about is just , well, arrogant !!!!!!!!!!!!! and asking for trouble..... but people are people, and pride comes before a fall !!!!! go in peace...... God bless

What tends to annoy me are the people who seem to take EVERY question as the opportunity to pull a "soap box" speech. Christians aren't the only ones doing this though.

I imagine it's nerve-racking for the Pagans or new-agers posting a question about something like dowsing, and having all the responses be either atheists screaming "It's superstitious nonsense!" and Christians screaming "It's from the power of Satan!"

The common thing between believers and non believers is belief. The religionists belief is there is god. And non-believers belief is there is no god.
If you don't believe then there is no god. Therefore your god is dependent on your belief.Without belief god cease to exist. Therefore there is no end for argument between believers and non-believers.
The only remedy is to know who is the believer, whether it is your physical body or the invisible knower of your body.
Therefore explore the invisible knower and realize it is the formless spirit, then only you will be able to know the spiritual meanings of the insights within the bible.
The religion is for the material side of life. For spiritual side you are on your own. Therefore know the truth of your own identity and realize the fact that your physical identity is not self, but the true Self is the spirit or Atman. Then view and judge the world view on your true identity the truth will starts unfolding by itself.

I am a Christian. I feel that everyone has a right to their own beliefs. I also think that anyone has the right not to believe. What you believe is the most personal and poignant part of being human.
No one has the right to ridicule, mock or hate another just because of their religion, or lack there of.. Prejudice, bigotry and hate are evil, we can not laugh them off as jokes or wit.
We as humans can express our belief, we can witness to our faiths and tenants and our philosophies. We can not as civilized and moral beings control or punish those that are "different from ourselves"
