Seems that way, doesn't it? Of course you would probably have to line up all that claim to be athiests, then line up all that believe in God, do a hard count and then figure the percentages to prove to them beyond a shadow of a doubt that the 97% of believers and 3% of athiests actually exist. And do it all under their supervision so that they could see that your method wasn't flawed or that you weren't brainwashed to believe in the 97/3%.

As of 2007, the US population of non religious (non-religious encompasses all secular, nonreligiuos, agnostics, and atheists) ranges anywhere from 25 to 30 million making up 9 to 15%. This percentage is up almost 26% since 2001.
It is interesting to note that divorce rates in the US among atheists and agnostics is lower than any religious group.
Also the US suicide rate for atheists and agnostics is almost 15% lower than for any religious group.

i think that the stats are way way off---if all the people that profess a belief in god really did do you really believe they would act the way they do---i dont--people pay at best lip service to fit in with their community-----keep smiling and enjoy the day
