Take her to the vet now! I had a small kitten named Chick-Pea that went through the same thing. She had eaten a small hair she found on the floor and it came unravelled in her belly and she got a condition called "
string gut". It is where the string gets caught in her intestines and she cannot poop, or digest food. Take her to the vet immediately! We were too late for Chick-Pea, but maybe your kitty can still be saved.

You can call the vet. Your kitten may have eaten something around the house -- not necessarily food, something she shouldn't have ingested -- and it is making her uncomfortable, or causing her pain or blocking her digestive system. This can be very serious and even life threatening. The safest and wisest thing you can do is to get this kitten to the vet.

I had a kitten once in foster care who ate part of a smushy, rubber toy, but fortunately she was able to bring it back up. I know of a kitten who ate a piece of string, which actually knotted her intestines and killed her. I could be a hairball, but this is really unlikely in a kitten this young, particularly if she is not long-haired, and it is a very common thing for a kitten to eat something she shouldn't have.

Do call the vet. This could be serious. Good luck.

Hi, I think the answer lies in your question, 'from a farm', I have 3 cats and 1 was from a farm he was a lot more 'wild' than the other 2 and did not like to be handled, I think this is due to the fact that from my experience animals born on a farm are not handled a lot when born (my dog also), both were born in secure pig sty type pens and were only fed not petted or handled, therefore they become slightly wild. All you can do is keep handling her even though she doesn't like it so she gets used to you, play with her and stroke her at the same time, I stroked my cat whilst she was eating! TC (my cat) is now lovely a big softy, he is still very independant but he loves a snuggle.

Several things you can try:

1) a baby bottle (good flo, or punch more holes in it) with tuna juice.

2) smear soft butter around its mouth, it has to lick it off, since butter is loaded in calories it will keep the kitten going. Not marjorine, it does not have the protein or essential fats of butter.

3) Use a medicine dropper to feed it chicken noodle soup (without the noodles). I did this for a kitten we had that was diagnosed with leukemia, it was like a rag doll and would not eat, then a day later it was up an running. There is something about chicken soup.

--------
I had a cat and treated it with one of those rub on the nape of its back flea treatments. Turns out the drug used is alot like nicotine, and causes nausea like nicotine, so the cat would not eat for days, I ended up using butter smeared on the mouth to bring it back to eating.

Oh dear. Is there a chance she got into poison while you were out? Something like pesticides or insect baits?

Offer her water in case she's dehydrating- and get her to a vet. This doesn't sound good for the baby!

Good luck!

Try feeding her milk through an eye dropper or a really small bottle.
