Because close-minded people tend to react in a petty manner when they're challenged.
Every Violation notice I receive tells me that I must have made a good point.

Because your reasoning opposes theirs, and sometimes yours may make more sense. They're not mature enough (or evolved enough as individuals) to accept that someone else has a differing view based on the evidence they've come across. To them, if they can't prove their views or disprove yours, they'd rather just silence your voice because you hurt their feelings by expressing your own.
p.s. Last night I had a question from 7 months ago reported and deleted, even though my Q&A are private to all but my contacts. I have a traitor in the midsts, so I may be forced to remove all but a few christians.

Its pretty bad now. I also am fairly sure that it is the fundies doing the reporting.
Atheists simply do not have any fear of criticism. Frankly the more ridiculous the postings made by the Theists are, the stupider they look, why report them? It of course does not work the other way around.
They have very little to say in defense of their beliefs so they resort to the thing they do best. Delete the problem.

The fundie trolls are everywhere. They are abusing the report system. However there is a lot of people complaining about in the forum. Personally I suggested taking off the reportsystem from R&S, since people can't use it correctly. Imagine what would happen if you put a nuclear device in their hands!

They are taking discourse for disrespect. In most cases, their brains don't process the information as it was intended.

How do you know they are? If its not a violation, it will be ignored. You can contest it, but it seldom helps.
