As for myself I find it worse than any porn material, a sin that can be forgiven, but in using GOD's name in vain one will not be held blameless so why is it permitted. For those that scream freedom of speech, there is still that freedom, restricted in a rating system just like porn, so why not support such a Bill ?

Tyr......my purpose would be to remove it completely the rating would stop its rampant usage they would not continue at the cost of tickets, the movies would lose nothing instead of blashpemy they would just use other curse words, so whats the harm ?

Becky.......its not purity I seek ,it is logic, where is the logic of words without meaning or offending without gain. you know the first 50 years of movies did not do this, yet made some of the best films ever when they relied on actors and stories and respected people, what happened?

Stevens mate......There is no warning agianst blasphemy only sometimes a warning for bad language which is not the same, that is my objection why should one have to watch part of the movie and have to hear it before one can decide to listen. hollywood is using GOD's name as a benchmark for people being upset which is unreal in most people and emotion should be up to the acting to relay their point.

View of ......this question is about blasphemy only not about what other christians might find non-christian, this is a single battle of a large war. wars are won or lost a single battle at a time. you claim to be christian, then know this: GOD needs warriors to fight evil, not roll over and stick their head in the sand. If you believe anything to be wrong then stand agianst it and it will fall. To let evil flurish is not his will, nor mine.

Yes I would support this bill, because I am against blasphemy so why shouldn't I fight against it, it serves no purpose but to corrupt the mind. I am accountable for every word I say as we all are.the constitution is misused in the defense of such trash.

No, because it's against the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting any religion"
-Bill of Rights (1st article, I think)
If you find it offensive, you have your freedom of expression to not buy the ticket, or to walk out of the theatre. You also have your freedom to read reviews and ask around BEFORE watching the movies.
Oh, and in other news, the "X" rating doesn't exist. That would be "NC-17".
Also, the movie ratings have nothing to do with congress, bills, laws, or anything. They were created by the Motion Picture Association of America, and are adhered to by filmmakers simply because they have become the popular standard. Any 6-year-old kid could LEGALLY buy a ticket for and attend any R- or NC-17 rated movie, so long as it doesn't contain sexual nudity, since that is legally restricted to those 18 and older by laws that have nothing to do with the movie ratings.
Edit: No, it doesn't talk about blasphemy in the RATINGS, but many REVIEWERS do mention it. In fact, there are even Christian movie review sites that list different unChristian things that come up in movies, so that the average Christian can be informed and avoid movies that blaspheme. As a Christian, I am happy with the system that we have, and will accept responsibility only for what I choose to watch, and not for what others decide to create or how the MPAA rates such things.

Given the many positive and negative replies given thus far, I can only say I would not support such a bill, nor would I view any films having such language in the first place. Even PG-13 leaves little to the imagination and I carefully select such movies to watch.
The so-called movie, "Wild Hogs," a PG-13 rating, had nudity and profanity that I hadn't expected. Other than having a poor and unrealistic plot, I did enjoy the clips having the Harleys in them. But that was it.
I care not to listen to anyone taking the Lord's name in vain under any circumstance. But that is my preference.

not so much the ratings which really doesn't seem to accomplish anything....
and how do they rate the chop up blood and gore movies???
I would like to be able to hear the movie without the additional language that has nothing to do with the story line....just cuss & cuss with a sentance and more cuss & cuss...cut out all the cussing and the movie would be 45 min long instead of 2 hrs!!
I enjoy a good blow 'em up cop die hard type movie...but after a while it is either cuff them already or wash their mouth out with soap.....

well i agree that it is wrong, so that is why i do my best to avoid rated R movies. there just not good for the soul. but i don't ever think a rating like that will happen. and blasphemy against God can be forgiven, it's blasphemy against the Holy Ghost that cannot.

I am sick of the blasphemy, people seem not to notice how most films now contain it, even though it serves no purpose.
I suspect a hidden agenda.

No I would not. Religion is just a way for humans to have control over an issue they do not understand, and have no definitive answers for.
Please change the cap if your going to ask such things. I don't want people to think it is me. lol

Why would anyone support such a worthless bill? If you don't like people having the freedom to say what they wish about other's version of god, move to a nation where it's not allowed.

Of all the strange “crimes that human beings have legislated out of nothing, “blasphemy” is the most amazing--with “obscenity” and “indecent exposure” fighting it out for second and third place.

No, but I would place it in "R", just because adults know better, and if those views come up in the movie, adult christians are smart enough to shrug it off.
