What's the one hand doing?

Depends what that hand is clapping - ex. clapping over your mouth probably sounds like muffled words that you managed to cover up. Clapping a friend on the back probably sounds like a soft thud. Clapping the waitress' rear probably sounds like a gasp followed by a loud slap.

I can clap with one hand-

Let the wrist and fingers go limp. In a whipping motion, snap your wrist forward and straighten it when it reaches out to let your fingers slap the palm of your hand.

It looks ridiculous, but at least its a good stupid human trick.
