I have a son who wipes his butt with toilet paper when he is done using the bathroom then he throws his dirty toilet paper in the trashcan instead of the toilet. He doesn't do it all the time, he just does it for long stretches then he stops.

I have never heard of anyone doing this, but I can understand why a little boy would. He is throwing away dirty paper in the trash. It probably makes sense to him. Just keep reminding him. If he throws it in the trash call him in and tell him about it. Let him be there, put on some gloves or pick it out with more paper and put it in the toilet and flush. Hopefully he will start to understand and remember.
At least he is wiping his own butt and disposing of the paper in a somewhat correct manner.
Good luck!

My son throws his toilet paper in the toilet. As far as I know my nephews do to. I think it is just your son, I don't think it's a boy thing. I can't imagine why he does it. Have you had troubles with the toilet clogging? Maybe he is afraid of clogging it up. I know I have had trouble with both of my kids using too much toilet paper and I have told them not to use so much as it will clog the toilet.

my husband does that and it drives me crazy. he was raised in another country where he was taught that toilet paper could clog the toilet so it goes into the trash.
