Websters defines it this way.
a : deliverance from the power and effects of sin b : the agent or means that effects salvation liberation from ignorance or illusion
2 a : preservation from destruction or failure b : deliverance from danger or difficulty.
That sounds good enough for me definition wise, then God & the Christ need to be added to truly benefit from those definitions.

Thank God you asked.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Acts 4 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 16 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

It is where you realize your a sinner, everyone is, you believe in God and His Word The Holy Bible. Believe that He sent His only begotten Son to the Cross to die for our sins. Than three days later was risen from the dead, and through Christ we have eternal life. But you can learn so much more at a baptist or non-denomonational church. Just make sure that during the service the preach abotu salvation.
