We are made in the image of God -- His attributes, not His appearance. Therefore, we also have His attributes and must execise them as He would.
Love, mercy, anger, etc. If God forgives, we also must forgive. If God heals the sick, we must also heal the sick. If God frees the captive, we must also free the captive.
The only thing we know for sure about God is what He wants us to DO. Google the 613 commandments to find out what He wants of us.
This is not deification -- it is ethics and morality.
Reform Jew-by-choice and admirer of LDS society. Regardless of what they "believe" the majority are ethical and moral -- they walk the walk. Christian culture has some major historical hurdles to overcome!

Romans 8:16-17
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
I believe these verses from the Holy Bible help us to understand our true relationship with Heavenly Father and our divine potential.
In addition, God continues to speak through living prophets as he as done throughout the history of the world. They help us to understand the scriptures and are an additional witness of Jesus Christ.
There are some videos at the following web site that teach more about the purpose of earth life and related truths.

Paul said that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Jesus Christ.
And, no, we do not have "spiritual babies" in the celestial Kingdom. We don't know how spirit "CHILDREN" are "conceived". Sounds like "The Godmakers" again.
Tell me, these "spirit babies"? In the movie, they were their little nappes? What do said nappies do? catch spirit doo doo?
Also, find me ONE LDS general authority who ever taught about things like spirit "BABIES".

Why are you assuming that LDS will "rule their own universe"?
I dont know what will SPECIFICALLY will happen of me after exaltation, but I do know that I will live eternally, and that I will "inherit all that the Father has". Seeing as us humans don't even know how to keep us from dying, we sure as hell don't know that will happen after death....... why speculate? Live life for what it is!!!!

No, the bible teaches us that God is a spirit while we are flesh and blood. We were created in His image and can become sons and daughters of Him but we will never be His equal. He is the creator of life and we are the life He created.

No, I don't.
But, I try not to bash the LDS. They seem like honest, nice people. I'd rather be around them than these filthy slugs in Berkeley I see every day

I ditto mormon_4_Jesus and phrog...
And yes, it is a possibility...we believe. Will every "mormon" have that chance? I personally don't think so, but I don't worry about it. I just want to be with my family and God and my elder Brother, Jesus Christ, forever. That is what I focus on.

If we are true and faithful in all things, we will be able to become like God our Father and live forever in the family unit, working with Him to bless and exalt our children.
This understanding of God’s purposes and our potential is a great blessing to you as you raise your earthly family. Everything you do in your family here on earth should prepare you and your children to be like our Heavenly Father and to live in and lead eternal families. As a parent—you are training infinitely precious children of God to someday be worthy to receive all that the Father has.
Besides our earthly family, we have a broad and general relationship with each other is as brothers and sisters. In this role we relate not only to the other children of our earthly parents but also to all the other children of our Father in Heaven. We are brothers and sisters to all.
In our attempts to fulfill these roles properly, we have perfect role models: God our Father and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Since a major purpose of our mortal existence is to become like our Heavenly Father through following the example and teachings of his Son Jesus Christ, it is prudent to realize that we can reach these goals by following the models set for us by our Heavenly Father and our Savior - becoming as gods, like them.
