How do I treat my cats for fleas, i wish they would let me bathe them, but thats not gonna happen. The flea powder is worthless. I can't afford to take 3 cats to the vet for fleas. I feel so bad for them and don't know what to do.

Yes, flea powder is worthless. So is flea shampoo, and so is anything from a pet store.

You don't have to actually take the cats to the vets, you can just go in and buy some Frontline over the counter, this is a spot-on that goes on the skin of your cats and will protect them against fleas for at least a month.

Your cats are trying to tell you something by not letting you bathe them - most cats don't like baths, and it's a pointless thing to do because it won't get rid of fleas. You may need to spray your house as well.

You could use the dry shampoo instead of actually bathing them, but I have never used it. They also suggest combing out the fleas, you put the fleas you find in a soapy water dish to drown them. But definitely use flea medication. I use the once a month stuff, I think its by Sargeant's, you get 3 months worth for around 10 dollars. The medicine kills and repeals fleas and eggs. If it is really bad I would flea bomb the house, get someone to help you bathe the cats and medicate them. Kind of starts you off fresh. Good Luck!

I have 13 cats, and the dog brought fleas into the house! I tried Frontline (didn't work) and Biospot for cats (didn't work), so I got a NEW product (just coming out) for cats, called Promaris. IT WORKED!! It doesn't cost quite as much as Fronline, but more than Biospot. For 3 doses (all you need for one month, since you have 3 cats), it cost $32. You can only get it at the vet!! Good luck....

There's a medicine called frontline that works perfectly for cats or dogs. It's not cheap though. You apply it once per month to the back of their necks. Unlike some medicines, this one will kill fleas and ticks, not just ward them off.
Great stuff and I use exclusively for my three cats.

good luck

Frontline is good. I use that one mine and then spray the house with raid flea.
