There are many things that can cause diarrhea and your vet can diagnose and treat any one of them. Spend the money and take him in to see the doctor!

Have you recently changed his food or brand of cat litter? If you made a major change in his diet his stomach could be reacting to it. My cats do not like it when I change brands of cat litter. They won't use whatever I buy unless it's the same one they've had since they were litter trained. You can't say for sure whether or not the cat is also peeing outside of the litter box because you don't see it as easily. He may using the litter box once in awhile for peeing, but maybe not all the time.
Another question - did you recently move the cat box, add a new cat to the house, or has anyone moved into or out of your house? Cats are very sensitive and creatures of habit, so any changes might cause this kind of behavior.
If you haven't changed anything in his life recently, then a visit to the vet's office is a good idea.

If the litter box is clean, your cat could have a disease. Only a vet will know for sure. A change of diet may also be in order. The vet could recommend a special diet, like WD. Good luck!

This sounds like he might have an intestinal parasite, and he's trying to get your attention.....to take him to the vet! Usually the treatment is a few drops of meds, for a few days, and everything clears up. Of course, you'll have to go around and spray "Simple Solution" or something like that, to get rid of the smell where he's already pooped, or he may go there again. Get him to the vet ASAP, and get that taken care of, before he gets too dehydrated from the diahhrea, and gets REALLY sick. Good luck....

Make him go outside. I've never had a litter-box (too smelly & unhygenic) I trained my cat to go outside and I've never had a problem. Cats ALWAYS get diarea. It's probably from the crap they eat when they're out & about. Don't worry so much!!!

put the cat outside and buy some air freshners. if a cat pees on your carpet then you get used to the odor, but it knocks everybody else down that comes to visit you. all you can do is ripp up the carpet and buy a new one it wont come out.

Sounds like a medical issue. Diarrhea is not normal. You should take him to the vet.
