I used to run 4 miles a day and workout for about 1 hour afterwards everyday. But, now I am cutting it back to 3-4 days a week because my knees were hurting. My question is, am I gonna gain too much weight? Will my metabolism slow down?
Will I go out of shape?

I think you were probably working out too much before, which is not healthy for your bones and not good to do unless you are training for a marathon or other event. You will gain weight if you continue eating the same amount, although you will probably feel less hungry so you will end up eating less anyway. And no your metabolism will not slow down more than it would naturally from age. And if you are running 3 times week plus working out for anhour you will definitely stay in good shape.

Definately ease up on the running, working out is fine but all in moderation OK! Do excercises that wont strain your knees tooo much, like abs, some pilates workouts, arms etc. Also take some vitamins for your knees such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate

probably because your body is so use to you exercising so much like that you may gain back a little weight not much but as long as you're still exercising and eating rigth your metabolism should be fine

4 days a week is enough. Plus, it gives more you time for your muscles to recover. You shouldn't be worried.
