Recently my neice attempted to get into nursing school. She tried every school I can think of in Texas using the NLN approved schools. She had a better than 3.0 average in her first 2 years of college. If your grades are not good. If you do not have very good grades in the sciences. You need to very seriously consider attempting an LVN/LPN program first.

This is not to say that vocational nurses are not highly skilled, and infact they are usually better at most technical tasks than many RNs when they graduate. The competition for admisssion is less. Once you have obtained your LPN/LVN you can pursue a vocational nurse to BSN program. They then have evidence of your nursing abilities and not just academics to compare you to other candidates.

The compettition for admission to RN programs has become very stiff and grades have become extremely important. Also, in most RN programs the attrition rate is very high, it is usually better to test the water if you are academically unsure.

IMO they're each the identical in trouble handiest med tuition takes longer. Unlike a few posters are claiming nurses do recognise the intent why they're doing matters and the way medicines paintings. I am continually confirmed in my nursing tuition on drug movements, interactions, adversarial reactions reliable dose levels ect... Nurses regardless that do furnish extra direct care in contrast to television might have you ever think. Nurse are customarily those instructing approximately the way to restrict sickness the way to deal with sickness and the way to take your medicines. Doctors spend five mins with you nurses are there with you for the duration of your complete keep. Pick whether or not you wish to be extra of the last sayer (a MD) or a supplier of care and compassion. edit: Medstudent surely has now not been in med tuition very lengthy or he might detect nurses are the one who name the medical professional while lab values are out of wack or while a pt is decomping and a nurse double assessments to ensure meds are ordered safely. we're the ones that experience pt deep breath and cough and ambulate and track their situation for the period of the night time, now not medical professionals. Hopefully medstudent whilst you turn out to be a medical professional you're going to be high-quality for your nurses reason they'll make your lifestyles as a medical professional dwelling poo if youre now not. Edit: shellie, i simply love their feedback, confidently i can paintings with them after they graduate and could have the satisfaction calling them ever five mins for the duration of the night time to invite them what i must be doing when you consider that i surely don't care why or what i do as a nurse :))))))

I recently graduated from MSU in Missouri, but it is a Bachelor's degree program. What do you mean by "that great of grades?" Most nursing programs are very competitive due to space availability. Where are you located at (state)?
