Meluncans think they are Turkish descendants, and can well be. But I have an objection to the justification by name.

During the times that Meluncans' ancestors are thought to have come to American land, Ottomans were using Arabic alphabet, not Latin. So, if they wanted to name themselves in Turkish, the name would be written in English something like Meloonjohn, not Meluncan.

To write Meluncan and read melun can in Turkish is too modern to make this justification true.

Still, we say, "Happy is the one who says he is a Turk". I guess Meluncans are happy people! :)

Hi,

if you are talking about the Americans who think they are related to Turks yes, we have heard about them.

They are called Meluncan's in Turkish.

As far as I remember, Elvis Presley is claimed to be one.
