The bible is as mythological as any religion ever conceived. The bible is no different from the Torah, the Quran or the ancient hieroglyphs of Egyptian Gods. They are all about as historically accurate and based on fact as the original account of why America invaded Vietnam. That is to say - Bulls**t.
They all originated in the same way, stories passed down over many years, gaining parts, loosing parts and ultimately looking like a completely different story from when it was first said.
Anyway to answer your question, of course they got it wrong. How can you be correct about presumptions made on a mythological entity? Nobody ever says "were they right about the unicorn and the talking snake?" They are in the old testament but you know its stupid to believe in them. If you think hard enough you might just realize how stupid it is to believe the rest of that little book of fairytales.

First of all you must understand the context of that statement. This statement is from a relationship point of view. God is a jealous God because he created us and passionately desires to have a relationship with us but because of sin God can't have that relationship He desires. In the old testament the Jewish people worshiped other gods and throughout the Old Testament you seen God's jealous reaction. Why??? If you are in a relationship and you seen your other partner advancing toward another person you would be jealous. In the same context God feels the same way.Hope this helps.

Doesn't matter what we think. The Bible is accurate. God is a jealous God. He tells us to not put other gods before Him.
He wants us spending time during the day, every day, with Him. He doesn't want you putting work before Him or putting
the football game before Him or putting your family before Him. God is orderly and He knows if you put Him first that everything else will fall in line. He says everything for your good. God also says that He doesn't give His glory to anyone. Evolution wants His glory as Creator and Creation and God will not allow it.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and God doesn't get things wrong. God didn't let the people get it wrong. God is capable of taking care of His Word, the Holy Bible. Just like God is capable of taking care of you and me.

Actually the word in Hebrew is: ×§× Ö¼× pronounced: kan-naw. It means, guess what: Jealous.
Always has, always perhaps will. ;)
Jealousy is a good attribute of God. He claims us as his Bride. Might sound a bit strange, but easy to relate to. We are to be Holy and set apart for him.

Satan, a former angel, wanted the worship that was due ONLY to Jehovah God. It made Satan an enemy of God.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17Â that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
ALL SCRIPTURE.
And God protects his scripture.
(Revelation 22:18-19) “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19Â and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.

Yeah, how could a God be jealous if everything is predetermined? Surely there would be no surprises. God is portrayed as many things in the Bible though-warrior, mother hen, father figure...the list goes on.

Well, the Old Testament does support this, with all the grand gestures against man the sinner. The deluge, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra. But, if He created us, He is entitled to be that way.

This merely illustrate His greatness that He is truely the real God and deserves to be treated as such and that all other gods were just copied after Him.
So there is nothing wrong to say such - IF it is true.

Exodus 34:14 is a verse that in its context was a warning about following other gods and false idols :)
Kinda like telling my son that I am his dad and I love him so I'm gonna get a little jealous if he goes walking around calling some other dude his dad and forgets about me.

He is a jealous God, and is so to our benefit!
He wants no other gods before Him. To do so is sin, and leads to our death and eternal seperation from God.
To always keep our purpose of being, our thanks, our service directed towards the one, true God, we can glorify God the Father. We are saves from our sentence of condemnation to the flames of Hell. Today, that is done soley through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord. With that established, our works make our faith alive and glorify the Father.
