Well Rie, I agree with you, and the bible agrees with us. Technically, though, it is Jews, not Christians, that Jesus is discussing this with. That's why PAUL used the demonstrative pronoun, making "all HERE have sinned" a more accurate translation.
I like the foot stomping "you are sinners, wahhhh," because, you know, tantrums work so well.
In order to sin against the Abrahamic deity, you have to be in a covenant with said deity.
The Exodus covenant is the ONLY covenant in the Bible that applies to people not in direct discussion with the Abrahamic deity and even then a biblical literalist might point out that it refers technically to only three generations of Jews. All other covenants are voluntary- and if you never involved yourself in one, you can't VIOLATE IT. The Exodus Covenant is the 10 commandments, but because a certain segment of Christianity doesn't read the whole Bible, they missed the whole I AM the Lord YOUR god who freed YOU from slavery, addressed TO the JEWS, which laid out said commandments as a way of paying back said deity for removing them from SLAVERY.
But I've discovered Christians don't know their bible, so, whatever.

Well, the fact that some people do not believe in sin doesn't really change the world or the reality in which we live, does it?
Thus, if Christians are wrong about the Bible and it is nothing but a book of man, then you are right.
However, if Christians are right in their assessment of the Bible and it truly is the word of God you should know the following Biblical facts:
The Bible shows that all men die because sin was brought into the world by Adam. Thus, whether you believe or not, the Bible explains that the reason people die is because they are sinners, born sinners. This is the reason that even infants die.
^^^^^^^^^^^
The problem of going to heaven is a church teaching that most organized religion has totally wrong. Everybody knows it, and all of these churchgoers close their eyes to this fact.
After all, what does Jesus' own words mean? "the meek shall inherit the earth"
Was Jesus just speaking nonsense and not knowing what he was talking about? Or, are the churches teaching something going against Jesus own words?

Well consider that all Christians used to be just like you.The ONLY difference between a christian and a non-christian is that we have come to accept the fact that we are sinners and we need God's forgiveness for our sin and you have not.
Questions for you. Have you ever lied?Stole? Disobeyed you parents? Wanted something that belonged to someone else? Wished someone was dead?
It is obvious that you have dishonored God,so you ARE a sinner and need to ask for repentance!!!!
Optimism and pessimism have ABSOLUTELY no effect on getting to heaven,THE ONLY WAY to Heaven is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and repentance of your sin.
Believing something does not make it true. If you were to believe you could fly(like superman) does that mean you will jump off the nearest building? No matter how much you believe you can fly you will never get higher then you can jump without the use of an airplane or hang glider.

Hi Riegan,
According to the Letter that the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 3, "we all sin and fall short of the glory of GOD". I believe that you just asked a question about America a few minutes ago and placed the Canadians above the Americans, this means that you are judging the Americans and thus you have sinned according to the words of CHRIST. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds
PS... Most of the Christians that I know are Very Opimistic and NOT Pessimistic at all. We have a very optimistic group of Christians at out small church.

from reading the answers, it seems like there are two approaches:
those that believe in sin and are primarily christians.
those that do not believe in sins and are non christians.
each side reads the question in a different way because of the different outlook at the word "sin" (where is chomsky when you need him?).
therefore, one who does not believe in sin, cannot sin. they probably acknowledge to some degree or another that every deed has consequences.
christians, who believe in sin, believe that everyone's a sinner but they (the christians) have the key to erase those sins... but in order to need the key you need to believe in sin to begin with... so there goes the conversation between 2 groups speaking the same words but 2 completely alien languages.

The very fact that we are capable of sinning is the reason why we are sinners.
How about this: How many times do you have to lie before I call you a liar? How many times do you have to kill someone before you are called a murderer?
Then, how much more is it that, not only have you lied, but you have perhaps stolen, perhaps caused anger (which leads to murder/hatred), lust (which leads to adultery)?
Sure, you can say you're not a sinner, but you're self-deluding yourself, that you are "perfect in character". And if you are sinless, why don't you go and actively help out others? There are so many problems in this world that people are trying to fix, if you deny this too, you just need to get your head out of the sand.
You seem to misunderstand the point of Christians. It's BECAUSE they acknowledge their sin, they take active priority to decrease this level of sin. Because they do this, they are often the optimistic ones.

Dear friend,
I believe we are all sinners (it took a long time for me to see and understand the real meaning of that).
I do not have optimism, I have hope.
I believe one person alone has been sinless. But by His blood, I have been made sin free. I cannot begin in this short space to give an adequate explanation of how it does not make me better than anyone, nor less than anyone. But how it makes grace greater than all my past sins, and grace the circumventing agent in my flawed humanity now.
As for getting to heaven sooner. I cannot wait to get there, but I cannot dream of going there before I have lived out the life God has so graciously restored to me.
EDIT: There are at least two who answered ahead of me who responded beautifully to your question. From a brief look, Bobbie and Daniel. (Thanks )

you can deny you are a sinner, that will not help you on judgment day.
Jesus died for you, he took on Hell for you.
When you die, your life will be contrasted to His. Of course you are not as holy as Jesus. If this is the case, you will not be permited into heaven, you choose hell by your own will.
If you choose to ignore the Bible, then that is fine. You have free will, but it is up to you to accept the free gift of Salvation, or accept the other outcome.
Remember, there are 613 Laws in the old testament. You will be held accountable for everything you have done. Namely, making a religion that suits yourself, and not God.
Your sinless religion will be tested against the Bible, and the Bible says Jesus was the only Sinless one. Would God be a good judge to let you into heaven?
It is not impossible you could die today, or this week. You choose where you are going, so prepare to meet your maker.

Have you ever done something that you knew you shouldn't have done? Have your ever done something and thought "I hope my parents don't find out" or "I hope my spouse doesn't find out?" Have you ever told a lie or cheated on a test? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you're a sinner, just like the rest of us. None of us are perfect, and if you think you're perfect, then you are committing the sin of vanity.

According to us Christians even our thoughts can be sinful so if your mind is pure then congrats to you.
Because even I do admit I sin and fall short and my mind is where it starts most of the time.
But Our Bible says there is No Condemnation for those that are in Christ. So if we repent(turn away) Its knowing the sin and sitting in it and being stuck -is when us Christians can backslide. We have to look to Our God and His Word to renew and clean our hearts and minds.
