They are safest in a cat carrier.
We used to let our cats roam a bit when we were moving.
Then (Don't worry.. story doesn't have a tragic ending) one time mom's Himilayan was walking around the SUV, which was all piled with stuff. Suddenly we heard a sound and saw that he had stepped on the button and rolled down the window. He was inches from the winddow and exactly level with the open part. We were doing 70 on a freeway, BTW.. I had to act fast, or it could have been aweful.. Since then.. our cats stay in the carrier when they're in the car

It's a risk that I don't want to take. What if you need to hit the brakes to avoid a car that cut you off? Your cat could go flying into the windshield or dashboard and get hurt. You're fortunate your cat stays on the seat, what if it decided to wander and got under your feet? It could be a serious distraction to you.
I always put my cat in her carrier and then secure the carrier to the back seat with a seat belt.

It's not safe. They get under the gas or brake pedal, or can dash outside soon as your door is cracked.
Get a $25 carrier from the pet supplies store or check with Goodwill if they have any that are around $5. Best to be safe, not sorry.

You really need to place her in a carrier and keep her safe. They can get excited and crawl all over the car get stuck under the seat get up on the dash when your driving and allkinds of things like that.Just keep youself a safe driver and for her sake and yours and other drivers you might accidentally hit place her in an open cage. They have pet carriers that are very open and really nice and kitty will love you for keeping it safe .Good luck

hello an hugs..
well i think that all depends on how long your gonna leave her there.. if your going to be someplace for a long time.. no i wouldnt.. she needs water food and fresh air.. remember if your going to be shopping for awhile to leave the window cracked down some ...
if your not planning on being in a store or a friends too long sure why not?? but id make sure the doors are locked so someone doesnt try to steal her or let her out.. at a friends or family members home you can check on her alot.. hugss and good luck!!

it Depends on the cat, I have 3 cats, all indoor cat, and 2 of them will walk out of my apartment in my arms go in the car and sleep on the front seat while i go where ever i need to take them, but my oldest cat will not do that she loses it when i pick her and even walk towards my door without even opening it. But she find if she's in the carrier we have for her.
