No, no,no. The bomb wasn't tested until July 1945, 3 months after the the Germans had surrendered. The war in Europe was a land war with Germany hemmed in by Russia on the East and the Allies on the West. The two pincers were closing in on the Third Reich. Bombing Germany would have killed thousands of Allied troops.
Japan was an island and had no foreign troops there. That was the fear, that we would have to land and fight Japan on Japanese soil. We had already seen what hell Okinawa was, with mass suicides of civilians. If anything, the bombs ended the war and ending it quickly.
Those who scream racism are not thinking this through. The Japanese based every horrible act on their own views of their racial superiority. They killed hundreds of thousands of Chinese, SE Asians, Allied POWs, Philippinos. All for the sake of racial purity. The racism rap doesn't work here.

Well pal, it sounds like you have a serious chip on your shoulder.
If you look at the timeline you will see that Germany was already defeated by the time the atomic bomb was dropped, that's the first part of your argument shot to pieces. Secondly if you have read ANY history (Even the twisted perverted kind you probably prefer), you will see that for the Allies to take Japan would have cost more lives than it was worth. So using the doctrine of killing more of your enemy than your own forces the decision was taken to warn Japan that a weapon over and above those used previously in the war would be used against them if they didn't surrender. This had no effect so the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on Aug 6th 1945 this was called "Little Boy", the Japanese were warned again that unless they surrendered immediately another such weapon would be used against them, this again was totally disregarded, so accordingly on Aug 9th 1945 "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki. Which led directly to the total surrender of Japanese forces to the Allies.
Let me now ask you this, why after they had seen the devastation of Hiroshima did the Japanese government not take action to stop another bomb being dropped, doesn't this mean, using your logic, that the Japanese government were complicit in the killings of everyone who dies in Nagasaki and those that have died of related causes since? Also what about the Raping of Nanking by the Japanese, where they used biological weapons, or did you conveniently forget about that?

VE Day: May 8, 1945 (Victory in Europe)
VJ Day: August 14, 1945 (Victory over Japan)
The Manhattan Project lasted over the course of six years, from 1939 to 1945. They didnt even test the atomic bomb until July 16, 1945 in New Mexico. So by the time they had tested it back in the US Germany was defeated.
Once they tested the device they then built two different models of atomic weapons, and were able to use them on Japan to end the war. Japan at that time had made every indication that its military and civilians would fight to the death defending the home islands.
Use of the atomic bomb in WW2 saved lives. You are a fool if you think otherwise.
Your questions regarding racism is ignorant. The weapon was used because it was available at the time, had it been available for use on Germany then it would have been used there as well more than likely.

i'm not sure approximately ethical place even though it does advance usa place i assume from a strategic attitude. relatively, I take that back, it would not. by skill of the time the bomb grew to become into waiting, Germany had already lost the conflict. It grew to become into only Japan that grew to become into left, so Germany wasn't even a threat. And from what i be attentive to, Japan did no longer have an atomic bomb (i could be wrong, yet i'm incredibly confident). There could have been greater advantageous education on a thank you to handle Japan different than dropping an atomic bomb on them. So, no, the reality that they could have used the atomic bomb would not justify the U. S.'s action.

The Germans had already surrendered before the bomb was perfected,The Japanese had no such intention of surrender the rest is history.Just as a poscript Col Tibbets USAAF never regretted dropping the bomb and I agree in the long run it saved many lives by ending the war and I think may have in fact stopped many conflicts from developing in to a full scale war.

The bomb was not used against Germany because it came too late.
It is hard to say that the Japanese would never surrender since they had already tried to via the Russians. Truman rejected the offer because it was not unconditional. The Japanese wanted assurances that the emperor would not be executed.
Rather than negotiate Truman chose to play with his new toys.
Some historians would say that Florida gal is right.

The atomic bombs were not ready before Germany surrendered in May, 1945. The first test of an atomic device was not until July.

What an absurd subtext! Before you go supposing racism, you might want to consider reality.
Since the US developed the atomic bomb, we have not been at war with Germany. Why would we bomb somebody with whom we aren't at war?
The bomb wasn't available until summer '45. Germany had surrendered in the spring. Had the bomb been available the previous year, it probably would have been used.

Hello,
I was looking for a free download Axis and Allies I found it here: http://j.mp/1BDxxSr
Finally the full version is avaiable!
You can pick to be either the Allied powers of Britain, Russia, and America, or instead opt to play as the Axis powers of Germany and Japan. Either way, this is a worldwide conflict where you'll have to learn to play strategically across two fronts, no matter who you’re playing as.
You should definitely try it
