Auto manufacturers are required to provide a front license bracket on all vehicles originally sold in states that require front license plates. This indicates that your car was brought into New Jersey from a state that did not require front plates. Simply go to a dealer for your make of car, and their parts department can order the correct bracket and mounting hardware for your specific model.

yes you have to. i moved from the south back home to SD and had to buy the kit from the car dealership to install in order not to ruin my car. it cost me about $50 and a friend put it on the front for me. if you drive without the front plate you are asking for tickets

Yeah you still need one. Ohio is the same way. I just put it on the dash because I'm not drilling holes in my bumper. I guess this is illegal too if the cop is a jerk.

the state does NOT care about your problems....they give u 2 plates and unless u want a ticket ,,,put on 2 plates...end of story.....just throw it on dashboard and cry if pulled over.

When you title and register a vehicle, they will issue you two license plates: one for the front and one for the rear of the car.
