I love God, with all my heart. The issue with me is that about 2yrs ago, i backslid quite a bit, after being so full on for Him, and so involved in ministry (and now i live abroad with no church). I have never forsaken my beliefs in my heart, but i stopped living out my convictions.
I so despersately want to be close with God again, and i know i dont need church to be a christian. its just great to be there, but i cant get to a church which speaks english.
I want to serve God in everything i do, but its so hard. i feel like im a lone island in a very big ocean. i cant go to my husband about this, hes agnostic. tell me, is anyone going thru the same?
God is everything to me. i just want to be his light in the darkness, but i have to overcome the things that hold me back. and conquer my flesh. and no matter how close i want to be with God, and pray every day, i keep stumbling when it comes to reading the word, even though i crave it!! i guess i just need some encouragement atm.

His light is everywhere. The problem is, you are the one choosing to only see darkness.

In todays times there are many ways to find a church, or hear a message, The internet is one, alot of churches put the services on there web sights so people who cannot attend for whatever reason can still hear Gods word. Try www.ridgeviewchurch. org, calverychapel.com., northcoast.org,harvestchurch,org, shadowmountain.org, I am sure that there are others. Just remember that God is everywhere, and if you seek Him you will find Him. You should read His word every day, and pray all the time. I will pray for you, and your husbands salvation. Remember that being a christian is about your personle realationship with Him, and nothing else.

Sister, First let me say, You said you were in the ministry, You mention your husband, so I see that you are a woman, God has never called any woman into the ministry, as far as you backsliding, & you want to serve God, then all you have to do is ask him to forgive you, & start over clean with God. If you are Predestinated, then you will overcome, God is marry to a backslider, That is scriptures, which means if you are a child of God & you let things of this world stop you from serving God, Somewhere God will bring you back to him. You say that you feel like a lone person on an island, I Know people that is in fellowship with us, that lives in South Africa, Norway, Mexico, the Phillpines, Australia, that only have a hand full of people that comes to their church. I am from The United States, & when we have a Revival these people comes to the USA to be in fellowship with us, My church does have a internet ministry, If you want to listern to our live services or even old sermons that we have, You can go to our church website at www.fachurch.org this will allow you to listern to our services as these other people that I mention to you also listern to us.

You do realize that John the Baptist wrote the entire book of Revelations while he was imprisoned on the Island of Patmos. Alone, a man that should of been broken, however he was the other disciple that Jesus loved. Look into your heart, pray and when your done praying, pray some more. Read your bible. See if you can find some online support in the form of a bible study group. Pray for the Lord to soften the heart of your husband. Don't try to change him because as much as I know you would love to, you can't. Just pray and God will work on his heart. If you need to try a period of fasting and prayer, you need to make your flesh submit to you, you need to break it basically. I hope that makes sense. I know it won't to the non-believers in this forum, however it is not to them that I speak. This is a sincere message of hope for you. Trust in the Lord God and turn to him for strength, for he will be your lifeboat during the most turbulent storm.

God Bless You,

Your problem is not unusual.
However your one mistake is that you do need "church"
Not as in the building, but in getting together with other believers.
The Bible tells us, Do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together as some do, but do it even more as you see the last day drawing near.
You feel like a lone island because you are.
You need to find some of God's people to be with.
Also, you don't need to stay backslidden, and far from God.
He is not far from any of us.
Reach out to him in faith and you will find him.
Make a committment to seek him faithfully through his word and do it.
You are starving yourself spiritually. You need to "eat" that way as much or more than physically. Would you ever consider doing as you have been doing in a real physical sense? You'd be dead long ago!
Don't keep it up.

You will always stumble as long as you are in the flesh fighting demons. But the bible warns us of that so that we are fully aware of what we are up against. The comfort comes from knowing that the Lord Jesus will always be with us in every trial we go through.

Here are some comforting verses to help you....

1Cr 9:24 Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

1Cr 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

1Cr 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

1Cr 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway

Phl 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

Your problem is not all that unusual! We all experience a "void" from time to time and often as a result of our circumstances. Irrespective of the fact that you backslid, Simply confess it and the Lord gives instant forgiveness and you simply walk on and keep looking ahead. You haven't stated which country you are presently in however I would suggesy you access "www.intouch.org" as they have some excellent daily devotionals which can help fill the void until you manage to find yourself a church. God Bless!

Church seems to many to be unnecessary in today`s modernistic world and yet in scripture we see how the followers of Jesus came together to pray and worship as one body, this is the reason we have a church and we gain much by coming together, we also learn the scriptures better when those with years of training in theology explain scripture to us.
Many people outside church find themselves in the role of a loose cannon and are more easily influenced by modern humanist ideas.
May the Lord of all grant you wisdom and peace.

your not the only one, and harder yet when you
have no support. there are many web sites to
find friends, and fill the void there.
You and I and alot of people struggle with the flesh. I have a hard time getting past my thoughts.
I know HE knows your struggles, pray for your
husband , that would be my first thought. It would
make a big difference. bless you sister

I think it's important to remember that we cannot do it ourselves, in the flesh we cannot control our sin whatsoever. We need God in our lives. Are you still reading your bible every day and praying? If not, that's a good place to start again...to re-build your relationship with God.
